BEBO SUPPORTS WORLD AIDS DAY

December 1, 2007

London/SanFran, 30 November, 2007 - Bebo, the global Social Media Network, today announced that it will launch a worldwide homepage takeover in support of World Aids Day and the British Red Cross campaign to help raise awareness of the issue of HIV.

Joanna Shields, President said: "Bebo has over 40 million users world-wide and a core audience of 15-24 year olds who are passionate about the world around them - making Bebo an important vehicle when trying to raise awareness of the global issue of HIV amongst this age group. We are proud to support the British Red Cross to highlight this serious issue amongst our community and hope to inspire them and spark debate."

The campaign aimed at teenagers and young adults, will be delivered via digital media and will revolve around a mini soap-opera called 'HIV: What's the story?' Featuring three fictional characters whose lives are being affected by HIV the campaign will break on Bebo and will be supported by a microsite containing video clips from Red Cross volunteers from around the world. The Bebo community will be able to watch the videos, read peoples accounts and share their personal stories.

In the course of the last 12 months The British Red Cross has pioneered campaigning on social networks and has harnessed the power of 'community' to drive awareness and encourage involvement. It has recently been reported that UK teenagers are some of the least aware in the world when it comes to knowing about the risks of HIV and what precautions to take; the latest research shows that half of all new infections are among the under-25s.

World Aids day will be marked on Bebo by a global homepage takeover on 01 December, 2007.
