Visual Statement provides the highest quality of innovative education and participatory work to groups around Glasgow and the Country. In 2006 Visual Statement undertook a major development and moved into the £9 million new state-of-the-art community leisure, arts and learning campus, 'the Bridge' the first of its kind in Scotland situated in the heart of Greater Easterhouse. The new facility consists of four integrated sections: Platform arts centre, a new relocated community library, refurbished swimming pool which together are joined to the recently completed replacement building of John Wheatley College. | This production was devised by Danny Dobbie and in partnership with Strathclyde Police and local primary schools in the Greater Eaterhouse area. This drama showcase highlights the issues faced by young people today from vandalism to anti-social behaviour and set’s out not only to raise awareness but to educate young school children as well. As a direct result of the drama production Strathclyde Police noticed a marked reduction in vandalism throughout the Greater Easterhouse area. | ||

| Spirit - Visual Statement’s original modern ballet first performed to local audiences as part of Doors Open Day and Festival Day in 2004 and also was performed at the Royal Concert Hall as part of The Fair Trade Experience in 2005. Spirit was a completely original modern ballet piece produced, directed and choreographed by Danny Dobbie. It was inspired by the Testimony of Chief Seattle, published in 1887 which speaks “Transformation Through Change” . “Nearly 150 years ago Chief Seattle, a respected and peaceful leader of one of the Northwest Indian Nations , delivered a compelling message to the government in Washington who wanted to buy his people’s land. He believed that all life on earth, and the earth itself, is sacred, and that man’s heedless abuse of native will lead to its destruction. Essentially it was a powerful plea for conservation.” | ||

| Visual Statement’s creative director, Danny Dobbie, produced, directed and choreographed, “The Thistle And The Rose” to coincide with the World Rose and Festival, Glasgow 2003. This enchanting contemporary ballet commissioned by Trade House, Glasgow was based on the famous poem by William Dunbar, who was commissioned by James IV of Scotland to write a celebration to mark his marriage to Margaret Tudor of England and the subsequence Union of Crowns. Visual Statement interpret this piece of Scottish history with music composed by William Jackson and narrated by Professor Ted Cowan through a unique combination of dance, music and poetry. | ||

| This original ballet looks at the life and struggle of the mother of Glasgow’s patron Saint, from her upbringing as a princess of pagan king, and finding herself with child out of wedlock, was thrown over a cliff. After surviving the ordeal she gave birth to a baby boy who was then raised by a monastic order. This production was Visual Statement’s first performance at the Platform and was a huge success, devised, produced and directed by Danny Dobbie. | ||
