Based on the true story of author Jessie Kesson’s life, “The White Bird Passes” tells the story of a young girl called ‘Janie’ growing up in the slums of Lady’s Lane, Elgin in 1926. Taken away from her mother and sent to Proctor’s Orphanage in Skene. Janie struggles to make sense of the world she knew in the Lane and the world she wants to be a part of as a writer. | ||

On May 28th 2006, the four members of Athlete gathered in the studio they'd just finished building, a short hop from their south east London homes. Three days earlier, the band's 'Wires' single had been named Best Contemporary Song at the Ivor Novello awards. Now it was time for Athlete to make some new music. | he Tailor of Inverness is written and performed by one actor, Matthew Zajac, and directed by acclaimed Grid Iron director Ben Harrison with a live score from two of Scotland’s finest traditional fiddlers, Jonny Hardie and Gavin Marwick. Inspired by the life of Matthew’s father, this is the story of a boy who grew up on a farm in Galicia (Eastern Poland, now Western Ukraine) and became a tailor in Inverness, of how a life and an identity can be reconstructed. The tailor’s life spanned most of the 20th century, and the journey he took was made by thousands of Poles during the Second World War. His was a forced migration, subject to the brutal vagaries of war. Before settling in Scotland, he travelled and fought throughout Europe, the Soviet Union, the Middle East and England. | ||
