| New York City, ohhhhh yes; the Broadway Shows, the Five Star dining, The high fashion of 5th Ave, velvet rope night clubs pumping all night long! This is exactly the shit I can’t stand about the place, basically because I can’t afford it. Let’s be honest, you probably can’t either. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time! There are plenty of people living on the street in New York who seem to be having a great time! O.K. drinking meths and rocking on a bench in central park may not be your idea of the perfect getaway, but a guy’s still gotta have fun. I’ve been living here for the good part of a year now, and just because that’s how we roll on GetTrippy, I’m gonna give you my GetTrippy guide for doing it for cheap in N.Y.C. | ||

| The pace of a big tropical humid city moving in repeated patterns of bright colour fills the stomach with unique forms of energy and hunger. Times of relaxation and sleep are especially enjoyable as they become less frequent. Bodysurfing in boardshorts bar tending in khakis. Like Beijarflor kissing flowers Rio de Janeiro is my sweet sweet nectar. Nearly as nocturnal as Sao Paulo but with sun filled afternoons involving beach soccer and volleyball, fruit juice and bikini watch, eating chicken coxinhas with tabasco, monkey-fishing and working ones base tan – when the wet season rains permit. | ||

| I didn’t have to ask, I just knew. That thick band of brown on the horizon, that’s Seoul. Sure pollution is an evitable problem for most large metropolitan areas. But Seoul seems particularly content to wallow in its own filth. Forget Paris’ old world charm, or Singapore’s immaculate streets or Tokyo’s abundance of green. In Seoul, bursting rubbish bags the uneven streets and the neon signs are smudged black with grime. Seoul even has its own stench. Delicious. And yet most weekends I venture deep into the mingpit. Why? Well, a Long Island Iced Tea costs a mere $8 for starters. I’m faithful to the “a fast game’s a good game” religion, so why bother with the $7 vodka and orange? I might as well go straight to the big kids’ liquor. Seoul groovers love their American hiphop, so a few of these wonderdrinks under my belt and I’m lighting up the 30cm square that is my dance floor. Yeaaaah. I own it.... | ||
