| As long as there is nonsense, there will be SENSE". SENSE Magazine is a media project which engages the creative faculties of young people across London providing them with a platform for their talents and a resource for their self-expression. the project is already proving to be a fertile ground for up-and-coming young creatives, Duane Melius, founding editor and project manager explains: "We have been making SENSE since 2002. The longer we run for, the better the quality of our ideas, and the opportunities we provide for young people. We have grown up following the pack, learning a lot from other magazines and I feel the time is coming for us to lead and show other magazines and all the big brands exactly how much creativity there is out here among ordinary young people. http://sensemagazine.bebo.com | ||

| My name’s Ben Green, I am 20 years old and live in Caterham, Surrey. As a young filmmaker my idea is to create a free BMX DVD that riders of all abilities can learn from. The DVD will be available to anyone through his or her local BMX store and also available through several social networking platforms and video sharing sites. The five riders who feature on the DVD are all professionals and we will be filming all around the South Coast of England to obtain footage for the film. I’m very passionate about this project because as a teenager growing up I know how expensive a good quality BMX DVD’s can be. I have also organised BMX workshops for every stop on the trip so people from all backgrounds can get one-on-one help and advise on how to improve their own riding skills. You can check out dates and our progress on the trip through daily updates at ‘www.nikemediaapprentice.co.uk/blog’. http://BenCentury.bebo.com | ||

| Offstage Theatre is a socially-conscious site-specific theatre company run by Artistic Director Cressida Brown and Creative Producer Elayce Ismail. Productions are inspired by the history and physical space of a location, the people it has housed, and its social, political and cultural traditions. Offstage's maiden project, 'The Beaumont Project' incorporated a performance of the new play 'Home', staged inside a vacated flat in 20-storey St Catherine's Tower on the Beaumont Estate in Leyton, East London, mere weeks before its scheduled demolition. Offstage's new production, 'Phaedra' , will draw on local traditions and heritage to inspire the retelling of a classical tale in the ruins Craigmillar Caslte (Edinburgh) as sunset approaches. In our next London project, 'Swimmer', we are working closely with the London Pools Campaign and groups of local swimmers to create a dream-like play to be staged in London's lidos, baths and pools. | ||

| The Relational Audio Visual Enterprise provides a network where people interested in artistic forms of expression work together to promote and share, skills and ideas whilst gaining experience in productive publicly based cultural events. Our members gain experience and confidence in their own creative abilities and encourage people who would otherwise not have the opportunity, to do the same. We have created a supportive collective of people, resources and knowledge, the benefits of which are enjoyed by all involved. Regular social events are organised utilizing the relevant skills of members i.e. music, art and performance to encourage interaction and build working relationships. Projects have included live art as part of the local Greenfields festival and the Edinburgh festival 2006, renovating a double decker bus with a full working recording studio and sound system to take to schools and community projects around East London. | ||

| For REAL! is a youth empowerment forum, whose main objective is to empower young people in Lewisham from ethnic minority backgrounds aged between 13 and 19 years old. We will empower young people to make an impact on issues such as drug abuse, racial discrimination, community safety as well as stop and search. The forum aims to give these young people a platform so that their voices matter and influence local policy. "I feel that it is crucial to work with these young people to develop their sense of self identity and give them greater knowledge of their rights. Following this, we help them to identify resources to enable them to deliver projects themselves. For me this is true empowerment!" Philip Udeh (25) For REAL! Project Manager | ||
