| He left us on August 29, 2005, after 57 years of life, may he have found rest. He was far from being perfect, but he wrote a few good books, reminded the Romanians we have traditions that define us and we should be proud of them. He was the translator and guide of the Cousteau team in 1991 in the Danube Delta, got two books translated and published in French and had a tremendously successful TV cooking show, from 1999 to 2005. Maybe I wouldn't wish anyone to have such kind of father but I wouldn't wish myself to have had a different one, part of who I am is his, and I'll do my best to keep his memory alive. The more people read his books, the better I feel. From a Romanian literary magazine: The popular TV show “Bucataria lui Radu” exceeds its gastronomic purpose and deals with issues of history, anthropology and geography. It made even more famous its creator Radu Anton Roman. The talented writer and journalist is also an editor at prestigious Publishing House Paideia. | ||

| My first place that's just mine, with ikea new stuff, gifts and second hand furniture. Few souvenirs from the Caribbean islands and Romania (one icon, the carpet on the floor that I took from the floor of my former lifetime home in Bucharest, part of my grandma's dowry). A Jamaican mask, small drawings from Ethiopia, a flower pot a friend of mine painted for me, an Egyptian image of Isis that was my father's birthday gift last year. The apron my mum bought me when visiting in June. Still not the perfect place, but one I can call home, where I feel home. Because my things are hanging around - it's so simple after all. A temporary shelter, an illusory place I can call mine. | ||

| My mum came to visit - June 11 to June 30, we had a great time, went to Ottawa, Québec City, also the village of Tadoussac where the Saguenay river, after carving marvellous fjords, joins the estuary of the St. Laurent river, that hosts whales and seals. Enjoyed long walks in the evening in a hot Montréal...she's my soul sister more than my mother, miss her so much, we're having so much fun together. I am happy she had a carefree holiday here...this is the best gift we can offer others: time, especially the one we spend with them. | ||

I went there for three days, mostly to meet my lifetime friend from Romania - Ioana and her hubby. Also Kenty, my charming friend from Barcelona, as he happened to attend a conference at the same time. Met Terrence, who made it all the way from Atlantic City so we can spend some time together Friday. Briefly saw Michael (he'll have a concert in Montréal June 30 also) and my cousin Nicu. There were a couple of people I didn't have the time to call. Next time | ||

| MY FATHER'S MESSAGE - SEPTEMBER 2004: Farewell, my daughter You are not going that far and you're strong and striving, so I'm not afraid for you. But I wish that polyglot and ecumenical angels watch over you and may multicultural divinities understand and protect you. Maybe you won't be always happy but, as given and bearable to the man (and woman), only every now and then. But I am sure you will always be alive, attentive and creative, and this should fill your life. Which life is full especially when you live its joys and pains, when you taste the good and the bad. There's nothing more stupid and sterile than an always happy optimist. Don't always wish for the presence, the care or the love of the others: your most precious treasure is your strength of thinking ceaselessly and trying to understand, even throughout the deepest solitude, the world we live in. | She's an amazing girl and friend. Also from Romania, she's warm at heart, outgoing, dynamic, fun, smart and pretty, a real joy to be around. I'm so glad I met her. We went to Le Pierrot, in the Old Montreal area, a huge pub with a nice terrace and French live music. Had the surprise of a waitress who sang two songs by Janis Joplin just beautifully, with the right vibe and all. It was just two days after I returned from Romania, so of great help...changed my mood. I wouldn't be able to get anywhere without my friends, I am really blessed from this point of view. | ||

| Spent three days with Cristina, my schoolmate (actually we weren't friends by then, but became since about 2-3 years ago, via e-mail). It was great to see her, a piece of my past stuck in the North American puzzle. Good to know there's someone around who have known you years ago. She's a wonderful person, her husband too, it was such a joy to have some time together. Good talks and walks, we shared a lot in a very short while. | ||

| Had 6 funny days in the Quebec mountains, with a Romanian gang, we rented a villa (châlet), had a fire place, we played silly in the snow, had long nights, woke up laaaate, cooked, danced, listened to some old vinyls we found there (Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, King Crimson, Deep Purple, even Adamo and Gilbert Bécaud) remembered good old highschool days, drinking a lot of wine | ||

She's 6 years younger and she's a pearl...studied Law, just started to work as a judge, speaks English, Spanish and French (with less enthusiasm than me , she's rather reserved, quietly smart, very gifted for drawing, a gracious dancer, also loves to travel, a brave young woman now, making her way through life too. | ||

| Camping in the wilderness of Algonquin Park, in Ontario, for one week - beautiful - green forests, blue lakes, swimming, paddling, walking, or just breathing and looking around. Then one week by Lac St. Jean, north of Québec, by a small lake, with the family of my fantastic friend Jocelyn. A lot of blueberries, still sleeping in a tent, playing with the 5 great kids...Canada is fantastic in the summer. | ||
