Ben Nevis Training Weekend 040408 (10 zdjęć)
Wheelchair users to climb summit I hopes my ability to overcome my disability would inspire others to take on Ben Nevis in May. She said: "I have challenged my disabilities. This has made me physically and mentally stronger and will enable me to overcome more barriers. "In the Ben Nevis challenge, Ken and I and our supporters want to encourage disabled and able-bodied people of all ages to work together and succeed." The challenge is set for 10 teams made up of corporate employees to help wheelchair users climb the Scottish summit. The event is designed to raise funds and awareness for the charities Capability Scotland and Scope. We had a training weekend for the teams to familarised themselves with the wheelchair and practice on the gruelling terrain. The Ben Nevis Challenge is due to take place on 31 May 2008.

Ben Nevis Challenge 31 May 2008 (21 zdjęć)
The UK's first wheelchair led team challenge to the top of Ben Nevis. Have you got what it takes? The Thrill: Ex-SAS TV Presenter and engineer of the BBC's Beyond Boundaries series, Ken Hames, is joining forces with Scope and Capability Scotland, two of the UK's leading disability charities, to lead 10 teams on a challenging expedition to the top of Britain's highest peak, Ben Nevis on 31 May 2008. Inspired by recently crossing the Andes with two disabled expedition members who were wheelchair users in his Beyond Boundaries 3 documentary, Ken decided to throw down the gauntlet to UK companies with the Ken Nevis Challenge. 'Just Do It' people, from companies across Scotland, England and Wales to pitch their strengths against each other. Each team was led by a wheelchair user, who will navigate and direct the team up the mountain in the quickest time! This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them and the team to break all your performance barriers.
