8/9/2007-2007 White House Egg Decorating Contest The 2007 White House Egg Decorating Contest was held on August 9 at the Iowa State Fair. This year, there were 24 beautiful eggs entered in the contest. First place went to Kristina Veach of Wapello. (Iowa Egg Council) I won $500 cash, all expense paid trip to the White House at Easter 2008 where I will meet with Laura Bush at a luncheon. My egg will be on display for 1 year at the White House and then will be on display at the Smithsonian Institute. Better Homes and Gardens Magazine will be publishing a layout on myself and my eggs within the next year! Thanks to my husband for telling me about the contest!! Thanks to the judges that chose my egg. It took 14 hours to create the egg, using a dentist drill, acrylic paints, miniature items, and luck. When I finished the egg - - the first thing I did was DROP IT ON THE FLOOR! It didn't break, so it must have been KARMA!
