Destruction of Rath Lugh (24 photos)
Here are a series of photographs of the defensive hillfort of Rath Lugh under attack from the road builders. They appear to have breached the line allowed to them but they are destroying the actual monument. Rath Lugh is named for the god Lug from whom is named the festival of Lúnasa, one of the 4 main Celtic festivals. He was also a god on the Continent with places like Lyons named from him. Close by is the Gabhra river and the Gabhra Valley where the last battle of the Fianna took place and according to legend those killed were buried under a huge mound at Gabhair Aicle. Achall is the old name for Skryne - so are they digging up the bones of the Fianna. They are certainly digging up bodies and bones elsewhere.

Sites being impacted by M3 route (27 photos)
They have started on the destruction of my Gabhra Valley. The Gabhra comes from the word gabhair that in Old Irish meant 'white mare'. So it menas the Valley of the white mare. If they keep up this rampage there will be no valley left and the name will mean nothing. Here are some recent photos of what they are doing ... please go and visit and see it all for yourself. Some of the local people are heartsick and crying at what is going on.

The archaeologist Conor Newman, who worked on Tara for years along with Joe Fenwick and Edel Bhreathnach, gave the crowd a tour of the Hill and it was recorded by the local radio station LMFM. Here are the photographs from that occasion.
