Dry Tortuga's July 2005 (37 photos)
Fara and I took a journey to the Dry Tortugas and returned with wonderful memories and photos. Dry Tortugas National Park, where Fort Jefferson is located, is one of the best kept secrets in the country. It is an amazing place to visit. Not only is the history of Fort Jefferson fascinating but there is a bird sanctuary for bird lovers and coral and sea life to be found all around the island. We camped on the island for several nights. The camp ground only has about 15 spots. At night you've got the island to yourself, with only a few other campers and the rangers that live in the Fort. The stars are incredible and the sunrises and sunsets are unbelievable. The underwater photos I shot were taken with a cheap disposable camera believe it or not! Thank you cheap camera people! I hope to go back next year and see this great place again!

Kayaking the Tensaw Delta 2005 (8 photos)
The Bartrum Canoe trail on the Tensaw Delta in S. Alabama was an adventure complete with alligators and a lightening storm. Vicky and Shane paddled their trusty canoe.

Dragonflies Lake Guntersville (7 photos)
Fishing trip to Lake Guntersville. The fishing didn't pan out too well but the dragonflies were out in full force! Also along the banks there were many arrowhead chips but we did not find any complete arrowheads. Found a couple of crynoid stem fossils and 1 male painted box turtle.

Hunt for the determined! (18 photos)
The Alabama Paleontological society August 20th 2005 sifting for fossils in the Conecuh River. Unfortunately the dam was releasing too much water and the ideal fossil hunting spots were underwater but that did not stop some folks from trying to reach them. Most of us stayed near or around shore sifting sediments and finding a variety of shark teeth and ray teeth. I had to get some photos of the beautiful flora and fauna as well!

Here are a few photos from my trip to Arizona. I have so many that it might take me a while to go through them all. Most of these photos are from the Kofa wildlife preserve (King of Arizona- Mines) in the Sonoran Desert. It's about 40 miles North of Yuma AZ.

Antelope Island and Mt. Baldy (38 photos)
This weekend we visited Antelope island and summited Mt. Baldy. Antelope island is populated by buffalo oddly enough and it is hot there and surrounded by highly saline water. It's still a pretty cool place though. We biked 40 miles around the island and camped near the "beach". We climbed Mt. Baldy with Dad and Karen. The wildflowers were incredbile and fun was had by all.

A long HIking trip up Timpanogos July 15 2006 (43 photos)
Pictures from our 14 mile hike to the top of Mt. Timpanogos. This mountain is only 20 minutes from our house, can you beleive that! I could hike there every weekend. There are about 16 or more beautiful waterfalls there, lakes, and a glacier at the top. The mountain is also full of marine fossils left over from Lake Bonneville. Also the wildflowers there are so unbeleivable. This was an incredible hike and Dan and I were very brave, especially when we felt certain death might await on the snow/ice fields. A trip to Santaquin Mountain July 29th 2006 (21 photos)
We had a great hike up Santaquin Mountain this weekend. It's a mountain about 10 minutes from our house. In fact we could almost see the house from the top, but another mountain was just barely blocking our view. We started the hike once again early to avoid the mid-day heat. Some highlights of the hike were reaching the top of course, seeing a wind tornado blow some grass around and then getting caught in it, and getting back to the car after hiking 13 miles!! A trip to Zion National Park in Utah July 8th 2006 (41 photos)
Here are the pics from the weekend trip to Zion National Park in S. Utah, this is an incredible place! This was my second trip on the Harley, about a 500 mile round trip. I wish I had more pictures from the entrance of the park we went through, it was other-worldly. This trip was a fun trip with Dan's family, his sister Marci and her daughter Malina, his Dad Glade and Glade's wife Andrea who were visiting from Barbados. I can't wait to go back to Zion and hike some more.
