| Half 3 Heroes by Emmet Kirwan directed by Willie White. Who says young people don't care? When their friends and classmates are deported, repatriated, shipped out and sent away the students of Ireland organise a nationwide take over of their schools. Once they have locked themselves in, they realise that they also have to contend with each other and find that navigating the politics of school and being a teenager might be harder than to fight the power. Dublin Youth Theatre presents a specially commissioned darkly comic play set in the near future. Written by emerging writer Emmet Kirwan (Sarah & Steve, RTE 2), Half 3 Heroes is about teenagers dealing with the big problems of being young as well as some small political ones that are bigger than they are. | From 3rd - 13th August 5 DYT members(Ian Lawless, Lorcan MacDonnell, Sara Geoghegan, Róisín O' Donovan and Sara Geoghegan) travelled with Maria Schweppe (General Manager) and Peter Kelly (Animateur) to Sostanj in Slovenia to take part in an exchange with young people from Slovenia, Scotland, Catalonia, Sweden and Belgium. While there the members took part in workshops in puppet making, masks, clowning, sound and rhythm and much more. The week culminated in a performance of the streets of Sostanj. | 34 Dublin Youth Theatre members travelled to the Carlingford Adventure Centre in Co. Louth from 2nd - 4th February to participate in the annual residential workshop weekend. The weekend was facilitated by Feidlim Cannon and Gary Keegan from Brokentalkers. DYT performed 'Red Ball' (a show commisioned by NAYD and The Abbey) by Hilary Fannin directed by Deirdre Molloy in the SFX City Theatre for one night on Thursday 28th October. The show then travelled to the Granary Theatre in Cork to take part in the Nextus Weekend where it was performed along side other youth theatre shows.
