Some of these claim to never close. The best bargains are said to be found at the infamous Dongdaemun markets, somewhere around 5am. I’m yet to test this theory. I personally favour sleep to the self-satisfaction of saving a few bucks. But if the burning desire to spend money thwarts your sleep, then congratulations, you’re a winner. Given the extensive shopping hours, one would assume there’d be slow times to avoid being crushed to death by ruthless bargain hunters. Ha! Shopping in Seoul comes in two forms: “help-I-can’t-breathe” and “help-I-can’t…”. Thud. One’s tolerance battling in the shopping gladiatorial games is therefore directly proportional to the level of enjoyment garnered from the constant rubbing up against strangers. I don’t know.
