There is no proof of any torture flights belonging to the CIA flying anywhere in the world, I'll let you know. The closest thing to torture is Simulated Drowning, which does not violate the Geneva cenvention. These interigation techniques are reserved only for the deeply sick Al-Queda commanders. You may recall a couple of years ago MI6 and the CIA foiled an attempt by terrorists to take over a trans alantic flight and destroy it either over a city or in the middle of the ocean. This information was extracted via Simulated Drowning ["Water-boarding"] from a top Al-Queda commander. They had tried for days to get something out of him but to no avail. But after just 30 seconds of Simulated Drowning he spilled it all.
You have to look at this from an American perspective: our top priority is our National Security and the likes of Al-Queda threaten just this. How is abuducting people and torturing them protecting modern democracy? I'd not call it modern, nor would I call it democratic.
Just because something slips through a loophole, doesn't mean it's not torture.
