"FUNDRAISING FOR OUR LADY'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL CRUMLIN"

Please help me to raise 250,000 euro for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin by clicking: http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org and sponsoring a mile of my Cycle Across America

My name is Eugene O’Leary. I am a 65 year old cyclist! ("The Pedaling Pensioner!")
My daughter, Helen was a patient of Our Lady’s, until she was eighteen years old. She died one year after leaving the care of the hospital (February 2002), and having her care transferred to an adult hospital.
In order to show some appreciation for the wonderful work done by the hospital in enabling my wife and I, together with her brothers and sisters to enjoy the gift of having “an angel” in our family for nineteen years, I started to do fundraising cycles for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, four years ago.
My ten year old grandson Dylan recently underwent chemotherapy treatment at the hospital and has made a complete recovery after removal of a tumour from behind his left eye.

Podge And Rodge From Ballydung

Raised
I have raised over €57, 000 for the Children’s Medical & Research foundation which is the fundraising arm for both the Foundation and the hospital, over the last five summers, by doing a series of 8 hour static cycles (on a training frame) on Bank Holiday weekends, at the entrance to the East Pier, Howth, Co. Dublin, in recognition of the wonderful care that our daughter was given, while a patient of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital. I have taken part in the hospitals overseas cycle challenges in Durban, South Africa; Lake Balaton, Hungary; Flagstaff, Arizona and last year in Niagara, Ontario. Each of these challenges entailed cycling a distance of 100 kilometres (62 miles) a day for five days. I will now be taking part in this years (2008) cycle challenge in Monterey, California from 3rd. to 13th. September. On August 4th, I completed a 150 mile fundraising cycle from Galway Docks to Howth, Co. Dublin i.e. from the Atlantic Ocean to the Irish Sea in 12 hrs. 15 mins.
Fundraising target of €250,000
Please help me to reach my overall fundraising target of €250, 000 by clicking on http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org/in... and make a donation. All donations will be paid directly to The Children's Medical & Research Foundation, Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin. The Childrens Medical & Research foundation Charity number CHY 4483A Phone number 014096232
My Fundraising Cycle Across America 2009
I will cycle across America from Astoria, Oregon to Portsmouth, New Hampshire between June 21st. and August 10th. 2009 (50 days).The aim of the cycle is to raise a minimum of €250, 000 for the Intensive Care Unit of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin by becoming the first Irish "Old Age Pensioner" to pedal across the U.S. Log onto http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org/ for details. All donations will be acknowledged. A big fundraising drive in support of the cycle will take place later in the year. If there is any corporate donor interested in becoming involved in supporting any of these cycles, please contact Eugene.Phone: 086-0571612E-mail:tenderbutt@the-pedaling-pensioner.org
CYCLE ACROSS IRELAND
I cycled from Galway Docks to Howth Harbour (150 Miles) on August Bank Holiday Monday 2008 (4th. August), to raise funds for The Medical & Research Foundation of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. I left Galway at 8.30 a.m. and arrived in Howth at 8.45 p.m. having stopped in Athlone for lunch and a short stop in each town en route while my support team collected sponsorship. Total cycling time was 10 hrs. 9 mins. Average speed 15.1 m.p.h. I wish to thank Billy Kenny who provide his taxi and support for the day, Billy's wife Christine and daughter Martina and my own daughter Janice and her partner Brian. They came along and spent a very long day fundraising along the route. A big thank you also to all who donated. If anyone wishes to support me on my next cycle for the hospital in Monterey, California (3rd. to 13th. September) please go to http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org Please support a great cause and make the pains, aches and saddls sores worthwhile :-)

tenderbutt@the-pedaling-pensioner.org If you have access to a printer please email me for a copy of my poster and if you could print one or two off and put it up in your local shop or club it would be a great help.

My fifth annual Overseas Cycle Challenge in Monterey, California takes place in September.
I will be taking part in my fifth annual Overseas Cycle Challenge in Monterey, California this year. The event takes place between the 3rd. and 13th. September and involves cycling 100k (62 miles) a day for five days.

In the past, I have taken part in the cycle challenges in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa – Lake Balaton, Hungary – Flagstaff, Arizona and Niagara, Ontario. These four cycles enabled me to raise in excess of €40,000 for the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. To participate in this year’s Challenge, each participant must raise a minimum of €5,000. I am therefore asking you to support me by clicking http://the-pedaling-pensioner.org/do...

What your donations will achieve:

* Family Rooms.
* Research into the Genetics of Childhood Cancer.
* Expansion of the hospital’s A&E Unit.
* New stand alone Adolescent Unit.
* Category 3 Laboratory.
* Intensive Care, Cardiac and Dental Equipment.
* Parent’s Accomodation.
* Ward Refurbishment.

Why not consider joining myself and the other participants on the cycle (There are usually between 80 and 100 participants.), on an overseas walk or one of the Foundation’s many other fundraising events and raising money for a great cause. You will make many new friends and really enjoy yourself.

For further information on participating in one of the events, have a look at
