Two years after the launch of BalconyTV Dublin (
www.balconytv.ie), and one year after the launch of BalconyTV Hamburg (
www.balconytv.de), we are delighted to announce the launch today of BalconyTV London (
www.balconytv.co.uk)!
BalconyTV was created in June 2006 by three Dublin flatmates who decided to invite bands, musicians and other variety acts to perform on their apartment balcony high above Dublins Dame Street.
September 2007 saw the launch of BalconyTV Hamburg, following the same model, based above Hamburgs famous Reeperbahn.
BalconyTVs daily shows have gone from strenght to strenght with over 3.5 million video views accross an archive of over 1′200 videos. The website won Best Music Website at the 2007 Digital Media Awards, and in 2008 was nominated for Best Viral Content at the prestigious Webby Awards.
Today sees the launch of BalconyTV London. The London Balcony is located at the famous Camden Lock. Presenting BalconyTV London is the delightful Layla Anna Lee.
To go along with the launch, BalconyTVs websites have undergone a make over to include new features including podcasts, reviews, blogs and more.
If thats not enough, today also sees BalconyTV going superviral! While shows to date have been archived on YouTube, from today BalconyTV will also be archiving shows on MySpace Video, Veoh, Imeem, Revver, MetaCafe, Vimeo, Viddler, Blip.TV, Itunes and more.
Commenting on the launch of BalconyTV London, Co-Founder Stephen O’ Regan said “Who would have thought two years on from a little idea over a cup of tea, we’d be here now. We’re delighted to have found such a brilliant balcony at Camden Lock. We’re really excited to see the shows the London team come up with”.
