Britain's Got Talent finds its worthy winner...
By Karen Dunn
Sunday, 1 June 2008
George Sampson has won Britain’s Got Talent and I couldn’t be happier. Not only was he possibly the most talented of the night, he also seemed to be a nice young boy and proved that Britain loves a trier.
I also thought it was great that Signature got into the final two. There’s nothing like a bit of bhangra.
They may not have made the final three, but Kate and Gin were pretty damn good too. I can’t believe a dog act won me over, but Gin was really were something special. Doggie dancing is clearly making a comeback.
As for the rest of the finalists, the Cheeky Monkeys were cute and very good at what they did, but it was just a bit too cute for my liking. Strike fell into that category as well, only without the cute bit. Talented without doubt, just not winning acts for me.
Nemesis were very good, but will get tons of bookings no matter what and the same goes for Escala.
As for the singers there was only one I really liked when it came down to it. Faryl was amazing and I was surprised she didn’t make the final three. However, Andrew Muir should have stuck to The X Factor and when I think about it, he wouldn’t have won that, so why should he have won this? The shiny trousers weren’t good either.
Meanwhile, Andrew Johnston is just a choir boy. Why does no one seem to see this? However, what really put me off him was the constant milking of the fact that he’s been bullied for his singing. OK we get it, that doesn’t mean you should win. Sorry, but enough of the sob stories.
Special mention also goes to Ant and Dec for making the overly long run of the show watchable and to Amanda Holden’s dress, which was about inch away from showing gusset.
Finally, before the series returns next year I would like to ban the following things:
1. The phrase ‘the wow factor’
2. The phrase ‘this competition has just got serious’
3. Amanda Holden dancing in her chair
4. Magicians – even if they do, do ‘sexy magic’
5. Any reference to ‘doing this for your babies’
Thank you and goodnight.1 Kommentar 545 Tage
