Right now, I’m getting back into exercising after a few years hiatus. I’ve had like 5 operations in 5 years so I’ve been a bit out of commission. I did enjoy my weight training but right now I am working on stamina and flexibility before I grab my iron.

Aside from that I am working on finishing up the remodeling of my house.

I'm always trying new things. I plan on getting my scuba certification this year and if I get into the right physical condition, I'll take a crack at wind surfing.

So that’s where I currently am, always reaching just beyond my grasp.

Music

World beat and all types of Indie. My favorite groups are Afro Celt Sound System and Rasa. I am just sooo burnt out on 'classic' rock I just don't want to hear it anymore. It's easier to list what I hate: rap, boom boom (neither of which are music), and most of country. Anything sucks when it's played too loud.

Films

V for vendetta, Heavy Metal 1, Hell Boy, Hell Raiser (hmm is there a pattern here?) I also like Japanese Live action and grown up oriented anime as well as other Foreign films.

Sports

Watching Sumo, Karate tourneys and ultimate fighting. (Another pattern??) ;P

Likes

Animals (dogs, cats, birds), complicated novels and movies, art quilts, walking through a blooming orange grove, butterflies, Cool evenings, hot chocolate.

Happiest When

Playing with a puppy, swimming in the waves, dancing. Going the distance when I never thought I could.

Hobbies

Gardening, Cooking, Reading, Sewing and quilting. Bike Riding and exercising, Noodling with web sites, home brewing (beer and wine, I don't drink the stuff, I just make it).

Dislikes

Ignorant people, germs, nasty people, reality shows, , comb-overs (bald is sexy, comb-overs are just dorky), cockroaches (I don't care if you call them Palmetto bugs, they are just bigger roaches!) YUK!

Heading North to bury my sister

My sister has lost her battle with breast cancer a few days ago. A battle she could have won if she had the balls (or should I say ovaries) to take the chemo and Even at stage 4 she could have gotten some good years.

She took 1 treatment & skipped 3. Giving her all the side effects of the chemo, without it killing one cancer cell.

She asked the doctor (at 76 pounds) if taking she started the treatment now would it do any good. He told her it's everywhere. Had she started when they first found it AND stuck to it they would have been able to slow it down and perhaps stop it's progression, even at stage 4. Breast cancer responds well to treatment as opposed to many others.

Now she is in a box. Why she did such a ding bat stunt with something so deadly I will never know.

Halloween rituals

We all have our Halloween rituals. Some carefully decorate our homes for visiting children. Some go to parties in costume. Some raid their kids candy loot. Some celebrate their New Years on this day.

For me it involves T-shirts. I have one sporting a witch saying “Black Hat Society”, one that says “This IS my Halloween costume.”, along with bevy of Halloween critters. Despite the best of intentions, I have yet to wear any of them.

Each Halloween I hit the stores the next day. Being a gothic type of gal there is always something that appeals to me. I usually pick up one T-shirt “for next year”. Put it away with the tags still on it.

When next year rolls around I begin my hunt for my Halloween T-shirts to pick one to wear. Every year, I have yet to find them in time for the holiday. Oh, I often come across the at other times of the year, but never have I been able to wear one of them on the intended day. Now another holiday has come and gone with the same shirts MIA, tags still on.

You will have to excuse me from this blog now. I have to hit the stores and get another T-shirt.
