In the style of a Steven Fry pod-cast I'm going to, as usual, start with apologising for how long it's taken me to do another blog. Since I got back from Australia (which was awesome!) and Germany (awesome again!) I've been up to my nipples in writing the next album. I'm currently hiding in a tiny little flat where there is nothing to do but play guitar and write, I was home for a week but after playing Star Wars on the Wii for four days straight I realised I might need to be somewhere with less distractions. This will be the most time I've been in one place in two years; I worked out the other day…
Anyway, the main reason for this blog is to announce a tour starting in January next year. What I wanted to do was a stripped back solo tour playing all the places that not everyone goes. Which is why at one point it was going to be called "THE PLACES I HAVEN'T BEEN YET APART FROM TWO OF THEM, WHICH I HAVE tour. But that was deemed silly. So yea, smaller venues, new places and (if can stay a away from the Wii) a whole bunch of new material.
I must admit I'm really happy the way the new stuff's sounding at the moment. Last night I listened to everything I had, finished songs and little ideas and was pleasantly surprised…don't know why I'm telling you that. You'll hear it all in January and tiny bit February.
A huge thanks to everyone who's been to see me in Australia and Germany and Japan and New Zealand and America and anywhere I've forgotten. The last few tours have been obscenely fun!
Newton has announced a string of solo shows for January. He’s going back to his roots and taking his one man show on the road for 14 intimate dates which kick off on January 16 in Stoke.
