Funky Dory (Re-Release), 2004Alle abspielen
It"s common these days to re-release an album with an extra few tracks. Released almost a year previously, Funky Dory by the lead singer ex-S Clubber Rachel Stevens, is one such album. Thankfully, the most notable additional track is far superior to anything from last time round, the Richard X produced "Some Girls", a catchy tune best described as Goldfrapp doing the Eurovision song contest--quirky pop-R&B-dance music at its very best. Other new bits include a re-working of "Breathe in Breathe Out", again a little bit electro but in a pop R&B stylee and lastly, a desperate cover of disco classic "More More More". Of the rest that remains from last years release,"Sweet Dreams My LA ex" is still a corker of a popsong as is the catchy title track (which samples aguitar from David Bowie"s Hunky Dory album). While many would like to dismiss Rachel Stevens as the pretty one from S Club who"d never make it, Funky Dory is a surprisingly good pop-R&B-dance album!
