  • The top 20 minimum wages

The UK's minimum wage went up to £5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 or older as of yesterday, but how does that compare to minimum wages elsewhere? Very well by the looks of it!

The data below is from from Wikipedia, and here's their explanation of the figures:"Annual wages were calculated by multiplying monthly wages by 12, weekly wages by 52 and daily wages by 5x52; a purchasing power parity (PPP) conversion rate from 2007 was used to convert the annual wage from national currency to international dollars."

    1. United Kingdom - $21,262
    2. Luxembourg - $19,856
    3. Australia - $19,053
    4. Netherlands - $18,267
    5. Belgium - $18,215
    6. France - $17,363
    7. Ireland - $17,317
    8. New Zealand - $16,021
    9. San Marino - $15,895
    10. Switzerland - $15,584
    11. Austria - $13,986
    12. Greece - $13,477
    13. Canada - $13,322
    14. Israel - $12,920
    15. United States - $12,168
    16. Kiribati - $11,827
    17. Republic of China - $11,455
    18. Slovenia - $11,054
    19. Spain - $10,811
    20. Japan - $10,692

Although, when you factor in all the other costs there are to live in each country - the UK may not come out of this as such an attractive proposition.

  • 4 online games you can play and still pretend you’re working

It’s pretty unreasonable for your employer to expect you to work every second of every day you’re at work, but taking a few minutes out of your day to put your feet up and read a book would be frowned upon in most offices.

Here’s a few online games that will make it look like you’re getting on with your work, as long as your job mainly involves looking at a screen and typing.

    - QWERTY Warriors
Type the word correctly to destroy your enemy. It’s like writing a proposal for a client trying to outdo your competitor, but with guns!

    - Fowl Words
Watch the chickens lay the lettered eggs and type the words before they fall off the conveyor belt, ruining everyone’s breakfast.

    - Finger Frenzy
Type the alphabet as quickly as you can. This may not actually fool your boss into thinking your working, but you could try passing it off as ‘training’. 6.481 seconds is our respectable record.

    - Keybr
Typing words you know is easy. Touch typing a random bunch of letters that make up incomprehensible sentences is much more difficult.

  • Monster's Olympic Sweepstake Kit

With the Olympic Games starting tomorrow we've come up with a way you can keep yourself interested all the way to 24th August (rather than just caring who wins the Men's 100m final like usual).

How to Play Monster's Olympic Sweepstake

    - Download the Sweepstake Kit and cut out the events from the first page. Fold them in half and place in a bowl
    http://ping.fm/PBgQL

    - Each participant must contribute an equal amount of money to the central prize pot

    - After they have selected a random event from the bowl, mark their name on the second sheet of the Sweepstake Kit

    - Once the Olympic Games are over the prize money is split between any events where Team GB have won a Gold medal, the participants who selected those events get to share the prize money equally

    - Only one Gold is counted per event, so if two Gold medals are won in Archery and one in Tennis, the central prize pot is still distributed 50/50 between participants

    - If Team GB fail to win any Gold medals by the end of the Games, the participant who selected ‘They won’t win a Gold’ gets to keep all the prize money
