Hello.. My name is Michael J. Thomas.. I'm 16 years old and am currently studying 3D Design, Law & I.C.T at Priestley College.. My main hobbies are writing computer software for people to download and use off the internet & to spend most of my time on the fantastic first person shooter game called Unreal Tournament..

Other things I like to do is go shopping with my friends at the weekend or after school and write fictional novels whenever I've got free time..

My favorite music track is Don't Tell Me by Madonna followed very closely by Cry For You by September and Sweet Harmony by The Beloved.. All three of them are Awesome!!! My favorite music video is Firestarter by The Prodigy.. It Rocks!!! I also love Robbie Williams, he is just F.A.B.. :) :) :)
Films I Watch
My favorite film of all time as you should know is Brazil.. It was made in 1985 by Monty Python producer Terry Gilliam and stars Jonathan Pryce as a Ministry Of Information worker called Sam Lowry who dreams he is a superhero and has to rescue the woman of his dreams from an evil Samurai Warrior.. PURE CLASSIC!!! Other films I really like are Requiem For A Dream, Duel, The Thin Red Line & Blade Runner.. (That's my top five - and it will never change)... :D :D :D :D :D

My Last Breathe..
Standing there, right on the edge, I taken in my last glimpse of the estranged, alienated world around me.. Throughout nearly all of my life I wondered, why do we enjoy watching others suffer?? Why do we crave off death and destruction?? What fuels this evil inside our minds?? Then, as the wind softly whispered in my ears, the answer came to me.. Human beings are a violent and uncaring race.. We decide to take the easy option of doing bad rather than taking the time to do good.. Finally, that was the point when I come to terms with who & what I am.. I am a mistake, a nothing which has no purpose to exist.. I do not deserve to be here on this sacred land which we have ruined and polluted so much.. What would it matter if one less person was to exist on the planet?? Who would care?? Thousands and thousands of people die every single day in poor countries due to the lack of vaccines, food & water.. I kept thinking about all the people I'd hurt in my life, how they had given me so much and alls I had given them back in return was misery and sorrow.. I am not worthy of beholding something as precious as what I have.. For the first time I could slowly look down and not be afraid to see my fate a couple of hundred feet below as all the cars casually drove by.. I calmly looked up at the wonderful blue sky hovering what seemed to be just above my head and thought to myself 'This is it, this is where I can finally free my soul from the humanity & evil that I contain'.. I spread my arms slowly and gently closed my eyes.. Flashbacks started to appear in my head of when I was a little boy and my mom used to look after me and take me out.. Those were happy memories, ones which I hope to one day re-visit when I return to her.. For once, I learned to be at peace with the world as I taken in my last breathe and pushed off into the emptiness..

When a boy wants to see you everyday, he wants to be yours forever.. When a boy says 'I love you', he means it.. When a boy says 'I miss you', no-one in this world can miss you more than that.. Life only comes around once so make sure you spend it with the right person.. Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot.. Who calls you back when you hang up on him.. Who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.. Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead.. Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats.. Who holds your hand in front of his friends.. Who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you.. Who turns to his friends and says 'That's her!!'..

Love is a powerful emotion.. Only when you truly understand how precious it is can you find the perfect one, the one who you will love and be with forever.. Do not let life pass you by, it's just too short..

Unreal Anthology On Linux..
I have successfully managed to install the Windows only version of Unreal Anthology on Ubuntu Linux v8.04 Hardy Heron through Wine v0.9.59.. The installation ran very smoothly with no errors or warning messages.. :) I actually found the installation to finish about 1/3 quicker than it does in Windows (especially Vista).. :P After it was complete I taken out the disk and rebooted the computer.. Next step was to see whether any of the games would successfully work.. :S I double-clicked the newly created 'Unreal Anthology' shortcut icon on my desktop and waited a few seconds for it to load.. I was greeted with 2 error messages which I barely understood but after I had clicked 'Ok' on both of them the main selection screen came up.. Feeling anxious & excited I clicked on the 'Unreal Tournament G.O.T.Y Edition' picture (my favourite out of the Unreal series), selected OpenGL as my graphics renderer and patiently waited as the splash-screen appeared.. The whole screen suddenly went black and then the intro began to play.. :D Without hesitation I quickly pressed 'Escape' and got myself to the main menu.. I configured all of the preferences like I usually do then for the first time attempted to jump right into a level.. I waited for a brief moment as the blue loading screen appeared then before I even had time to blink there it was, the wonderful Unreal Tournament universe ready & waiting for me get some frags.. :D I have to admit the game runs very very smoothly and have only encountered minor frame drops.. Next it was time for me to try & get the very first Unreal game working (Unreal Gold).. I followed the same procedures as I did before (the only thing having to be changed was the graphics setting as it did not support OpenGL so I decided to go with (Software Renderer).. I also noticed that the 2 error messages did not pop up either from the selection menu.. Everything worked exactly as it should and again only encountered minor frame drops.. :) This was the point where everything started to go downhill.. :( I attempted to run Unreal II The Awakening and Unreal Tournament 2004 and both of them refused to load.. They gave me no error messages, just left me with a desktop screen that had been slightly disorientated due to the set graphics resolution and a minimized tab on the bottom Gnome panel saying the game title.. Alls I could do to get out of it safely was push Ctrl + Alt + Del and select 'Restart'.. I believe the reason for their failure to run was due to the fact that the 2 newer games were built on the second Unreal Engine while the 2 older ones on the first meaning that there are obviously some compatibility issues.. :S I will continue to try & hack the programs to make them work and if I am successful will update this blog.. I would just like to finish with a special thanks to all the developers who are involved in the Wine project - keep up the good work.. :)
