    • New Online Masonic Networking Site

As part of Freemasonry Universals continuing efforts to bring Freemasons and their sites together online line we have set up, and just released a new online masonic network courtesy of ning.com

Many brethren are on the already famous networking sites such as LinkedIn, here at Bebo, Facebook etc but not all are "out" about being a Freemason.

Now they can socalise on one, business network on one and extend the hand of brotherly love at Freemasonry Universal.

Sign up now, it's free, it's fun and it helps promote our benevolant and charitable craft.

Share news, views and happenings in your area with local and distant brothers. Detail your travel plans and maybe incorporate a lodge visit where ever it is you are going, the possibilities are endless.....

Join http://freemasonryuniversal.ning.com/ and help spread Freemasonry online, and extend Brotherly Love among masons over cyber-space....

Look forward to seeing you there.

    • American Presidents and Freemasonry

I have no problem with people not agreeing with Freemasonry, or who do not wish to associate with Freemasons, as long as there are legitimate reasons, based on truth and fact.

Seeing as I have had comments made on my profile, and rather than going back and forth trying to educate someone who has no desire to know truth I thought I would simply write the facts for all to see, and check if they so wish.

Membership of Freemasonry is no secret, we are not required to hide our membership and in fact are encouraged to talk about our fraternity when asked, which makes it so painful when you try, but are simple met with ignorance and people who in truth have no wish to really know the truth.

To date, there have been 15 presidents of the United States of America who were Freemasons.

George Washington - Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4, Virginia
James Monroe - Williamsburgh Lodge No. 6, Virginia
Andrew Jackson - Harmony Lodge No. 1; Grand Master 1822-24, Tennessee
James Knox Polk - Columbia Lodge No. 31, Tennessee
member: Platte Lodge No. 56, Mo.
James Buchanan - Lodge No. 43, Pennsylvania
Andrew Johnson - Greenville Lodge No. 119, Tennessee
James Abram Garfield - Magnolia Lodge No. 20, Ohio
William McKinley - Hiram Lodge No. 21, Virginia
Theodore Roosevelt - Matinecock Lodge No. 806, Oyster Bay
William Howard Taft - affiliated Kilwinning Lodge 356, Ohio
Warren Gamaliel Harding - Marion Lodge No. 70, Ohio
Franklin Delano Roosevelt - raised Nov. 28. (dont know lodge)
Harry S Truman - Belton Lodge No. 450
Lyndon Baines Johnson initiated only, never carried on
Gerald Ford - Columbia Lodge No.3

Ford, 38th President of the United States, is the most recent president to be a Freemason. I believe his term finished 30+, yes THIRTY, years ago.

Neither of the Bushes are, or were, Freemasons. The President closest to being a Freemason in the last 30 years is Clinton, who was a member of the masonic youth group, found and recognised as a masonic group in America ONLY, of DeMolay but who never entered a lodge or was initiated as an adult man.

Other important figures from America's past that were Freemasons include:

Signers of the Decleration of Independance

      William Ellery - Freemason
      Benjamin Franklin - Freemason
      John Hancock - Freemason
Joseph Hewes or Howes - Freemason
      William Hooper - Freemason
      Thomas McKean - Freemason
Robert Morris - no evidence that he was a Mason, but some suggest he was?
Thomas Nelson, - no documentation that he was a Mason
      Robert Treat Paine- Freemason
John Penn - no evidence that he was a Mason
Benjamin Rush - no documentation of Masonic membership
James Smith - no evidence that he was a Mason
      Richard Stockton - Freemason
      George Walton - Freemason
      William Whipple - Freemason
John Witherspoon - no evidence of Masonic membership

Those where it says "no evidence" is for those where there has been some claim that they may have been, but no proof ie record of initiation or membership, has been found.

      Signers of the Constitution

      Gunning Bedford, Jr
      John Blair
      David Brearley
      Jacob Broom
      Daniel Carroll
      Jonathan Dayton
      John Dickinson
      Benjamin Franklin
      Nicholas Gilman
      Rufus King
      James McHenry
      William Paterson

So to those who wish to continually pass on false information, please realise, Freemasonry doesn't need defending, it has done nothing wrong, and all you need to do is look at what you are saying, actually research your claim before you go smacking your gums together to who ever will listen because in truth you are making yourself look worse than any Freemason you wish to make claims against, at least we tell the truth.!!

I've recently launched a new website venture, not a business or money maker or anything like that.

If you are interested in Freemasonry, you'll be interested in the site and seeing how it developes.

Have a look, and leave me any comments here or via the webmaster e-mail address on the site.
