Cesc Fabregas cleared in FA Cup 'spit' row5/22/09

THE Football Association has cleared Cesc Fabregas of all charges related to his conduct after Arsenal’s Cup replay victory against Hull at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners skipper, who played no part in the FA Cup fifth-round replay in March, was accused of spitting at Tigers’ assistant boss Brian Horton in the tunnel after the match.

But an independent commission has found that there was not enough evidence to support the accusation of improper conduct.

Phil Brown says he will back assistant if he takes spit claim to FA while video emerges appearing to show Cesc Fabregas spitting at Michael Ballack
Brown says Hull have reported Fabregas ‘spit’ to FA who vehemently denied the accusation, could have faced a hefty fine and ban had he been found guilty.

A statement from the FA read: "The FA can confirm that, at a regulatory commission hearing, two charges of improper conduct against Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas were found not proved.

“The charges related to Fabregas's conduct following the FA Cup match between Arsenal and Hull at the Emirates Stadium on 17 March.

"One charge concerned his conduct after coming on to the pitch following the final whistle. The second charge related to an allegation of spitting."

Hull boss Phil Brown has requested a personal hearing to answer his charge.

But the Tigers chief will want to turn his attention to Sunday’s crucial clash with Manchester United at the KC Stadium, which will determine Hull’s Premier League future.

Cesc back to best after the summer5/15/09

Arsene Wenger believes the “real” Cesc Fabregas will be back next season.

The Arsenal captain saw his season cruelly interrupted by a medial knee ligament injury just before Christmas that kept him out for almost four months.

Before he sustained the problem, Fabregas had started the season quite brightly with a goal and four assists in his 15 appearances.

But although the Spaniard returned with yet more assists and a brilliant brace against Middlesbrough, Wenger thinks his skipper will be even better after the summer.

“You will see the real Cesc Fabregas next season,” the manager said at Thursday’s pre-match press conference.

“He’s not completely [back to his best] yet. That is natural when a player has been out for three months. It takes him some time to come back completely.

“He is a player who cares about results and nobody comes back 100 per cent. You cannot care and not be affected.

“I believe he has been very strong mentally, resolute and determined. He has given as much as he can. He is the new captain and has learned his job.
