Foals are a five-piece dance-rock band currently living in their home town Oxford. Yannis Philippakis (vocals/guitar), Edwin Congreave (keyboards), Walter Gervers (bass), Jimmy Smith (guitar) and Jack Bevan (drums) met in their native city, where they bonded over a shared sense of humour. Bored with the interchangeable electro records they heard at every party, they decided to make the kind of music they wanted to dance to. “We wanted to make music that was very technical, that wasn’t just party music, but at the same time you could dance to it,” explains Yannis.

Last June, Foals travelled to Brooklyn, New York to record their debut album, Antidotes, with TV On The Radio guitarist and producer David Sitek, whose previous credits include Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Liars. Yannis recalls: “The first thing he said to me when I spoke to him on the phone was, If you want to make a glossy pop record then don’t work with me. We thought, He sounds great.”

    • Foals @ Wild In The Country

      Foals will be playing Wild in the Country, an 18 hour, non-stop music one day festival on Saturday 5th July.

      Taking place in the palatial grounds of Hertfordshire’s Knebworth House, it's set across six stunningly decorated marquee’d arenas and a live outdoor stage, more fun and frolics will take place across the Enchanted Wood, Victorian Fun Fair, Twisted Tea Rooms and giant chill-out tepee.
