  • Transplantic session

will know Graham "Nod" Matthew recently completed a "Stupidathon" where he climbed a Munro, cycled 30 miles, swam a mile and played an hour of squash all in the same day in aid of Transplant Sport UK and to help fund his upcoming trip to the World transplant games in Australia. It was suggested at the time that we could put on a night of music to help raise funds for him. This has spawned the worlds first TRANSPLANTIC SESSION (eat your hearts out Ally Bain and Jerry Douglas).

IT will take place on 11 Sep in the Black Abbot Lounge and will feature Heidrum, F'n'3Gs and hopefully some as yet unconfirmed special guests including hopefully, if he can remember which end of a guitar is which. Mr Matthew himself. Where else can you get Highway to hell, Duelling banjos and Hit me baby one more time in one gig?

It would be great to see you all on the 11th and even better would be if you can spread the word to ensure the event gets maximum exposure. Pleasse feel free to forward this email to your address book. I've also attached a copy of the poster and if you could print a couple and pin it up on any notice boards you have access to it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks for your help.

    Gary

  • Abbot Gig

Absolutely superb night at the abbot last night. It makes it such an easy night when the audience really appreciates what you're doing. The Sunday night sessions in there are really kicking off now and it's great Nomie is putting the effort into find great quality LIVE music (and us) to put on every week. Check oot his gig schedule at www.blackabbot.co.uk to see what I mean. Last nights set was lengthened a bit and we eventually stopped after almost 4 hours. In fairness we did take 20 mins in the middle and the 90 mins to swap the drum kit round to right handed so the Bellson Bomber could have a batter!! Cheers Mike you were awesome but you seemed to slip into the Britney song affy easily (sounded very polished and practiced)!!

Oh well next stop the MONTROSE MUSIC FESTIVAL next weekend, we're at the Star on Sat night and the Vaults on Sunday afternoon but the weekend is packed with brilliant stuff so get out there and support it.

PS anybody know where there's a karaoke on? No, F......n' Good!!!

  • Fit's happnin?

08 got off to a bit of a slow start but we've had a practice to get a few new songs sorted out and their now tightas a ducks arse so we're ready to air them at our first gig of the year at Busby's in Montrose on 29 Feb. We've also decided this year to get off our arses and see about getting some other gigs. So more dates to follow at Busby's but also hopefully a few in some other venues around the area.

We've also been asked to take part in the first Montrose Music Festival which is been held in various venues around the town from 30 May - 01 Jun. There is an absolutely brilliant list of bands playing including (still don't know how they've managed this) The AVERAGE WHITE BAND headlining the festival on the Friday night. There are still a few tickets left but you'll have to be quick - so get the funk down there. More details available on their website www.montrosemusicfestival.com.

That's it for now but as soon as we get other dates confirmed I'll get them posted here.

    Lads,

I enjoyed the recent set at the Abbot, you guys played lots of my fave tunes and even a "Quo" number! I learned to play the drums 28yrs ago with my Uncle in a small cellar in John St, it was my grans house and me and my uncle played the quo on a daily basis:)
I mentioned to Gary's sister Lynne that i am a Premier drums enthusiast and have been all my life, I was happy to see Gordon playing a Premier kit and it was even sweeter when I noticed it was a "Royale" as i prefer older Premier kits nowadays and play one myself as you's who watched our gig will know:)

I am a believer that when a band are playing a gig that it is wrong for someone to do a short cameo on an instrument "however" i was very grateful you let me jam 2 tunes with you and i will return the favour to Gordon if he ever watches one of our gigs(turning my kit to a lefty!)

I wish you all the best for the fest and incidently, i am supplying a drumkit for the Survivors night if anyone fancies some "Britney":L
