The Fairfax Kangaroos are named after the North Melbourne Kangaroos (a suburb at one time of the city of Melbourne in Victoria Australia). we are an all-star team that play in the washington dc area. i started the team out at fairfax ice arena. we played there from the summer of 2005 to the end of the 2006/2007 fall/winter season. we were in the playoffs 3 times out of 4 season (2 of them were in the fall/winter season when everyone gets in the playoffs). now we are a all-star team.

History of the Fairfax Kangaroos
Official History of the Fairfax Kangaroos
By Timmy Brown (Founder/GM/ex goalie)
Part One, the Fairfax Ice Arena Years

The Fairfax Kangaroos started on May 1st 2005. The Fairfax Kangaroos is named after the North Melbourne Kangaroos of the Australian Football League (Aussie rules football). The team’s first practice’s were on May 2nd and May 8th. In our First season, the Kangaroos played 21 games and went 5-14-2 (12 points). Our first win was on June 11th (I was not there that game due to a personal reason, bringing our first puppy home). In that game, the Kangaroos beat Turtle Power 4-1. The rest of the season was not much memorable except for 2 games. On August 12th against the Hurricanes, the Kangaroos were down 3-2 in the last 2 minutes. They pulled me for an extra player and we scored. 20 seconds after the face off, the Kangaroos scored again and went on to win 4-3. On August 14th, the Kangaroos had their first shutout (I was in goal that game) we won 5-0 over Turtle Power. I had 30 saves. The rest of the season was not that memorable (lost the last 5 games that season). We didn’t make the playoffs because we came in 7th (and last place) that season (the top 4 teams make the playoffs in the summer time). In the Fall season, we went during 21 games, 8-10-3 (19 points) and lost in the first round of the playoffs. We did however play at the MCI (now Verizon Center) on February 11th, 2006. We lost 4-0 but we played before a large crowd (friends and family). In our first playoff game, we lost 4-3 in a shootout. In the Summer of 2006, we went during 15 games 7-8-0 (14 points). We were in the top 4 (4th place) and made the playoffs. We lost to the Hurricanes 4-0. In our last season at Fairfax, we went during 21 games 7-13-1 (15 points). We ended that season in 8th place and lost in the first round. On the bright side of that season, we won at the Verizon Center 5-1 against the Hurricanes. On April 23rd during the 3rd period of the game against the Oilers, I hurt my left knee (I tore a little bit of the cartilage in that knee). I missed the playoff game and also had to retire. In our playoff game (and last game at Fairfax) the Kangaroos lost 2-1 in overtime. The team disbanded because a lot of people were leaving the team (plus when I hurt my knee, I decided to take the team name and everything with the team with me). Below are the players that played for the team at Fairfax.
