- Eluveitie clearly belongs to the fast growing Pagan Metal-scene, anyhow brings some "fresh air" into it. Eluveitie's sound is traditional, authentic celtic Folk Music combined in a unique way with modern styled Melodic Death Metal, strongly influenced by the classic “Göthenburg Sound”.
Originally formed by Mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann in winter 2002 as a mere studio-project, the first EP "Vên" was recorded in 2003, already unique in it's way of having the Folk-Part being on an equal footing with the Metal-Instruments. This self-financed MCD was ardently received by the scene, zines etc. and sold out within a few Months. In 2004 Eluveitie signed to the dutch label Fear Dark Records, which released a re-mastered (and partly re-recorded) version of "Vên", and continued as a "real" band, playing gigs together with bands such as Cruachan, Korpiklaani and Skyforger.
Although many line-up changes still had to happen, Eluveitie grew into being a band, and developed it's very own style, formed by the many different influences of nine musicians rooted in different styles of music. In late 2005, Eluveitie was finally ready to enter the studio and record their first full-lenght Album, to be released on Fear Dark Records again. With "Spirit" , Eluveitie goes a big step forward, presenting a completely new style of Folk Metal to the scene - starting a new wave of Folk Metal!

ELUVEITIE - EVOCATION I: THE ARCANE DOMINION - OUT NOW!
The new album from Swiss folk metal pioneers ELUVEITIE, can now be purchased worldwide!
The band's acoustic/folk album, Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion, was released on April 11th (Europe) and May 19th (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD contains 15 folk songs, most of them written in ancient gaulish language.
Commented mainman Chrigel Glanzmann:
"The tracks on Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion take you on a journey through ancient gaulish mythology, a journey deep into the celtic soul. You'll pass diverse instrumental tracks, setting mythological topics into music, as well as songs, which are exclusively sung in ancient Gaulish language.
Most lyrics are 1,600-2,100 years old. We're proud and happy we have some illustrious and excellent guest musicians on this album: Fredy Schnyder from NUCLEUS TORN playing the hammered dulcimer on two tracks, Oli S. Tyr from the German medieval folkers FAUN contributing the magical sounds of the long-necked lute on the title track.
Furthermore, Alan Nemtheanga from the Irish pagan metallers PRIMORDIAL presenting his vocal art in two tracks, Mina The Fiddler from the experimental folk band BRANA KETERNA enchanting two tracks with the sounds of the five-stringed viola and at last Sarah Wauquiez, our former bandmember, playing Zugerorgeli (helvetic accordion) on one track."

Swiss Pagan Metal horde ELUVEITIE just revealed the cover artwork of their upcoming new folk album Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion.
Mainman Chrigel Glanzmann states:
"As Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion is a concept album setting pure gaulish mythology into music, we also wanted to be the artwork in the same line. Kernunnos is one of the most important and central characters in celtic mythology. So we conceived a topical portrayal of that figure, representing as the ancient mythological content of Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion as well as it's musical character."

All I can say is WOW. Eluveitie are one of the greatest bands I have ever heard...truly some amazing talent in the band. Love the combination of traditional Celtic folk and melodic death metal...fucking great stuff.
