DUBLIN YOUTH THEATRE was founded in 1977 by Educational Psychologist Paddy O' Dwyer and since then has forged a unique contribution to the worlds of theatre and youth work. 31 years old this year, DYT continues to provide innovative and exciting opportunities for young people in the 14 - 22 age group to gain experience in drama, theatre and the related arts. The objectives of DYT are: to provide for the personal and social development of its members through participation in drama workshops and production and to attain a high artistic standard in the public performance of plays which include work relevant to the lives of young people today. DYT has a current membership of over 85 young people.

Join Dublin Youth Theatre
You do not need to have any drama experience to become a member of DYT. DYT only recruits once a year in September. Each year an Open Day is held for prospective members to meet our current members and leaders and find about about the organisation. Prospective members will undergo a workshop audition, there are normally 15 - 20 young people in each audition where you will play some basic drama games and excercises and be asked why you'd like to join, the auditions are also held in September. DYT is grant aided by The Arts Council, City of Dublin Youth Service Board and Dublin City Council, this enables us to keep membership fees to a sum of E80 per annum, members are expected to actively participate in members' fundraising initiatives. To join DYT please contact the office on 018743687/dyt@iol.ie to request an application form.

    • ATI Evening Acting Course

      Please find below information on the new Actor Training Ireland evening acting course that starts in January 2010.

      Actor Training Ireland is a newly formed acting studio set up by Andy Crook, Paul Keenan and Helena Walsh all of whom were core tutors of the Professional Actor Training Programme at Trinity College. We are currently based in North Great Georges Street, Dublin.

      This course is aimed at those people who are interested in taking their passion for acting a step further and developing themselves as rounded, able and creative actors. It is part of an initiative we are taking in bringing our work to a broad range of people, from beginners right through to professional actors.

      We hope that it will be of interest to some of your members who maybe looking for further actor training. It would be great if you could put this in a bulletin or notice board if you have one.

      I'm now taking orders for DYT hoodies; they will be light grey and have the DYT logo emblazoned on the front (they're really cosy!) If you would like to order one, please give me details of your name, size (S- XL) and any nickname you want written on the back. They cost €25 (with or without anything written on the back). Any proceeds will go towards DYT.

      I'm doing a collection this week and next week after workshop in the DYT house, so you can give me your details and money then.
      A DYT hoody is a potential great Christmas present!

      To all you Second Years that have ordered hoodies and have been extremely patient, don't worry I have all your orders and money safe and sorted, and anybody that ordered from Shane Byrne will also be taken care of. I'm more than happy to take note of any nickname and size changes that anybody has, and anybody who has contacted me already about this, I've seen to it and have everything on record. I've sourced a company and will be able to place the order quickly, and you and your hoody will be united very soon!       FCTV is a new broadcasting channel for the Fingal region that is currently broadcasting online at www.fctv.ie. It’s a really exciting time here at FCTV and we require voluntary ACTORS to work on upcoming drama programmes

      We are currently looking for males and females aged between 14 and 65
      - Experience not essential but an advantage
      - Applicants MUST reside in the Fingal area

      We will be holding a workshop style audition day for talent at the Millbank Theatre in Rush on Saturday 5th of December from 9.30am until 17.30pm

      just wondering maria if you could recommend anybody that does head shots, thats good and not actually that expensive! or even the fella that was doing the shots for the show half 3 heroes ... well if he does head shots and if he is not that dear like.
