Ten members of DYT will travel to the festival with a piece specifically devised for the festival directed by two members of DYT, Shane Byrne & Doireann Coady.

About Dublin Youth Theatre
DUBLIN YOUTH THEATRE was founded in 1977 by Educational Psychologist Paddy O' Dwyer and since then has forged a unique contribution to the worlds of theatre and youth work. 31 years old this year, DYT continues to provide innovative and exciting opportunities for young people in the 14 - 22 age group to gain experience in drama, theatre and the related arts. The objectives of DYT are: to provide for the personal and social development of its members through participation in drama workshops and production and to attain a high artistic standard in the public performance of plays which include work relevant to the lives of young people today. DYT has a current membership of over 85 young people. For more information about DYT contact (01) 874 3687 / dyt@iol.ie. This is the official Bebo page for Dublin Youth Theatre.
Join Dublin Youth Theatre
You do not need to have any drama experience to become a member of DYT. DYT only recruits once a year in September. Each year an Open Day is held for prospective members to meet our current members and leaders and find about about the organisation. Prospective members will undergo a workshop audition, there are normally 15 - 20 young people in each audition where you will play some basic drama games and excercises and be asked why you'd like to join, the auditions are also held in September. DYT is grant aided by The Arts Council, City of Dublin Youth Service Board and Dublin City Council, this enables us to keep membership fees to a sum of E80 per annum, members are expected to actively participate in members' fundraising initiatives. To join DYT please contact the office on 018743687/dyt@iol.ie to request an application form.

  • Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness'

    Lily Productions present

    Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness'

The Joinery Gallery, Arbour Hill, Dublin 7
    www.thejoinery.org
    Thursday 9 July 2009 @ 6pm

Come on a five thousand mile journey to the very centre of a continent, to the very heart of darkness. The greatest and most influential novella of the 20th century is performed entire and complete by Gavin Kostick. A penetrating psychological study, a troubling masterpiece of modernism, a passionate denunciation of the secret crimes of the West.

This will be your only chance to see this hugely popular performance by in Dublin before it’s run at the Southbank Centre as part of the London Festival of Literature 2009 (www.londonlitfest.com).

Winner of the Spirit of the Dublin Fringe Award in 2007 and surprise hit of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival 2008.

“The narrative style of Conrad's book, essentially a long speech to a group of friends, benefits enormously from Kostick's intimate, natural performance, and Conrad's colloquial colonial style is matched perfectly by Kostick's Cheshire cadences…five stars for Kostick's endurance. But most importantly, five stars for his wonderfully theatrical performance.”(The Irish Times)

This performance is five and half hours long, which includes two twenty minute breaks.
Light refreshments will be served during these breaks.

    Tickets: €15 (Full Price) & €10 (Concession)
    Booking: 086 8430652 or lilyproduction@gmail.com

    Kindly supported by Culture Ireland
