I'm a trained bum reduced to the status of an actor... I've now taken up a recreational writing, rock n roll jet set lifestyle partying with new friends in places where no recognition keeps me safe. My budget limits me to guest lists, open bars and my bike. Life of anonymity suits me fine as a foreigner in a foreign land. Sticking to the rule that we should consider every day lost on which we have not laughed and danced at least once. Isn't every truth naturally false unless accompanied by at least one laugh? Personally I'm finding it hard to believe in anything, I've spent too much time in self-absorption so now I'm trying to learn conscientious consideration for any who feel they have the time for me.

Sports
Releasing agression in squash (sorry Shabnam!), a drole & passe attention to Russian tennis pro's (thanks Olya), floating in Mt Lavinia Hotel's pool (and trying hard not to be distracted by lovely shapes in Bikini's), still hold the funnest time as flying a mountain bike through Pacific Park, skiing or doing anything on a mountain & flying (the more dangerous the more fun) plus the occassional vain attempt at trying to beguile the prettiest girl in the world (and then foolishly introducing her to a friend) and finally, recording great phrases or playing with poetry and building knowledge systems - isn't that sport?

True Blue Herbal Tea (fantastic drink in Canada), Vodka (old skool favourite!), Merlot (when feeling conversational), Port (when feeling contentious), Champagne (anytime!), Budwar (for decompression)
Heroes
Billy Connelly for pointing out how ridiculous everyone and everything is, Capt James Cook for charting and 'making friends' with the peoples of the South Seas and basically being the first Yorkshireman to see some really beautiful spots on the planet from the Georgia Straights to New Zealand, Charles Darwin and his beagal for standing up to the ridicule from finding the truth, Pericles for leaving an amazing city behind, Thomas Edward Lawrence for achieving the impossible by going native and being cursed forever after by the the betrayal of the Allies, Clinton for being an sense-talking likeable American, Immaneul Kant for understanding the reciprocity of ethics and finally Descartes, Satre and Foucault for pushing forward humanities conception of itself. And my Mum and Dad for putting up with me for all these years.

Ever have an epiphany?

Not sure I ever had - besides almost going under a tram in Amsterdam one very early morning, but my life flashing before me and almost dying of laughter isn't methinks an epiphany.

Sat in a dock awaiting your fate to be handed out by a thobed carpet kisser and making all sorts of promises to oneself in an athiests beseachment to mercy and finding it - that's probably not either.

But maybe having a wonderful day out of the blue - surprised and astounded and evidently aware of some reality that you only half dreamt possible.... now maybe thats epiphany. Well yesterday I was a Ballet virgin and today I feel like a new man - even if I can't flutter my feet in the air without my posterior being fixed to a chair.

3 months into the most glorious, loving and exciting relationship of my life and all I can see in the future is this fairy princess leading me around to places I like but never would never have actually sought out - suffering a past practiced quick fix approach to satiating my wanton mind - now suddenly overcome by a deep sense of trust and familiarity with a fairy that's given me a whole new lease on life where now I'm looking forward to running into things rather than excited for running away from things.

I've been getting away with it all my life feeling chuffed and lonely to be away and yet never to belong. If, beyond any wildest dreams, now finding at last a belonging and, vice versa, someone true and fair belonging to me then my past anxieties disperse to be replaced with a flying confidence toward the infinite unknown.

What a fine contraption this body is - bearer of a mind so infinite, instigator of neural chemicals so raw and enveloping, container of a spirit that even if mortal and doomed to non-existence, at the very least has the capability to channel it's awareness beyond and make love within a universe so random - as a magnificent fireball flames out seeming to never have changed a moment but leaving an aura of lightness in it's passing to inspire others to burn just as bright.

To hell with logic, reason and carefulness! The meaning of life is just theory. The practical is when you have in your hands pure love. The test is to commit. But what fool couldn't commit on a crush? What meaning do you want? You commit. No ifs. No buts. Just a prayer that it never escapes you.

If clinging to what makes one real and alive, as if in rebirth, is the only sane solution in a world gone mad from hating and bating...

...we'd all be in a better fix for tomorrow....

...if our care could overflow from ourselves to those around and to know, to physically grasp and recognize the fact as if it were your own palm...

...love is all that matters - without love, life has no meaning and without meaning love has no life.

Shout it from the mountain tops. Please. Proclaim the age of love has ascended and lets trash all our crude tools of conflict and embrace our future for you, me, them and all of us - if not because we're innocent nor deserve it, then quit cursing the fruits of our love and at least do it for the sake of our progeny.

10 Heuristics Usability
Visibility of system status
The system should always keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate feedback within reasonable time.
Match between system and the real world
The system should speak the users' language, with words, phrases and concepts familiar to the user, rather than system-oriented terms. Follow real-world conventions, making information appear in a natural and logical order.
User control and freedom
Users often choose system functions by mistake and will need a clearly marked "emergency exit" to leave the unwanted state without having to go through an extended dialogue. Support undo and redo.
Consistency and standards
Users should not have to wonder whether different words, situations, or actions mean the same thing. Follow platform conventions.
Error prevention
Even better than good error messages is a careful design which prevents a problem from occurring in the first place. Either eliminate error-prone conditions or check for them and present users with a confirmation option before they commit to the action.
Recognition rather than recall
Minimize the user's memory load by making objects, actions, and options visible. The user should not have to remember information from one part of the dialogue to another. Instructions for use of the system should be visible or easily retrievable whenever appropriate.
Flexibility and efficiency of use
Accelerators -- unseen by the novice user -- may often speed up the interaction for the expert user such that the system can cater to both inexperienced and experienced users. Allow users to tailor frequent actions.
Aesthetic and minimalist design
Dialogues should not contain information which is irrelevant or rarely needed. Every extra unit of information in a dialogue competes with the relevant units of information and diminishes their relative visibility.
Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
Error messages should be expressed in plain language (no codes), precisely indicate the problem, and constructively suggest a solution.
Help and documentation
Even though it is better if the system can be used without documentation, it may be necessary to provide help and documentation. Any such information should be easy to search, focused on the user's task, list concrete steps to be carried out, and not be too large.
