This is a thank you..

A lot of people have been asking me how Tuesday nights gig for Jason in the button factory went, and I have found it very hard to put words to the immense feelings of what that night was and meant to me.

So I’ve found it easier to type my feelings and hopefully I can thank all who attend as well.

Firstly I want to thank all at the sound training college and all the students, the students who attended, the musicians who took part, and to all the students who had anything got to do with the show, from on the door to the light show and to backstage, without your help nothing could have been achieved, I thank you.

Secondly a massive thank you to Leslie and the beautiful Lee, who took the whole nights organization in her stride, it was her that I had been in contact for a number of weeks prior to the night and she had always comforted me that the night will go off without a hitch and it was a testament to her that it was a massive sucess. Words cannot describe the love I have for her and all at the STC who on their request have decided to bestow this amazing honor on Jason. In conversation that night she had repeatedly talked about Jason and the glowing effect he had on her and the whole of the STC.

Third to all who attended. To all Jason friends, family and well wishers of the family, you will always remain close to me, Tuesday night showed me that Jason memory and the love and life that he brought to all of you will never subside.

With over nine hundred people attending made the night one of the most memorable nights for me, to know that all you have such love remaining for Jason goes beyond any thanks I can say to you in words. A massive thanks you to all who came on Tuesday night, from Carrick, from Boyle, Sligo, Athlone, Galway, Dublin and all who traveled from England (York and London),

So what happened???

Well, the night was amazing, the bands started at 7 and started to come thick and fast, the blend of different genres gave a eclectic sparkle to the mood of the night. Once the doors open the crowd poured in wave after wave. As I don’t know many of the bands from the night I'm not going to name each(their all in my last blog entry), although Lee kept updating me with info (better check out myspace more often) about the bands and their association to Jason and the STC. Also found out that Timmy and Tommy were in Jason class!! That’s crazy. I spend a lot of time mingling with all you fantastic people, if I wasn’t at the bar or smoking area I was up in the VIP area. Next time I got a chance to listen to the music was when Liam Fitzy and his band from Carrick were playing, the boys rocked the place and went down a treat! (Mam loved them haha) then the lads were freed up to have a few subtle ones for the night!! Haha.. After that came another host of fantastic bands that kept the crowd onto their toes and the front of the stage looking more like a mosh pit than intimate venue.

Then came the unveiling of the plaque, the presentation of it from our family to the STC. With speeches from the stunning Lee, and Dad, who both were shaking like a leaf and full of emotion in their voices. Lee then took her shoes off which perplexed me, but I was given the explanation later, it was to get off the stage steep steps apparently.

Then after that and a few more bands was when the girls from Amasis came to stage and I’ve never seen so many lads stand up and take notice!! (I know Darragh did! Haha). The girls blew everyone away, with covers and their own blend of blinding everyone with their light show haha.



It was Amasis that were the singers for the most important and memorable time of the night, I had sent pictures of Jason to the STC, and I knew what was about to happen, I had known what they were for, but I wasn’t prepared for the emotions and pride that was to wave over my body. It was Amasis singing Robbie Williams “Angel” and a slide show of Jason project up

The Sound Training Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin have decided to start a scholarship in honor of my younger brother Jason. On the night of Novmeber the 18th there will be a fundraiser night in his memory in the Button Factory, Dublin. It will have a host of bands and dj’s playing from 7pm till late. There will also be a unveling of a plaque in his memory which will be placed outside their new multimedia lab.

The Sound Training Centre (STC) is renowned for its professional and in-depth approach to training alongside the comprehensive opportunities available to students wishing to develop professional careers in the music industry. STC students are well regarded within the music industry for their acumen, professionalism and experience.

The Sound Training Centre is the only college in Ireland with SSL and Neve technologies. It is also furnished with an outstanding collection of industry standard equipment - the best facilities in Ireland . The STC alumni is also among the most impressive in the world so it is more than a honor for them to choose Jason in this manner and dedicate the new (2nd Year Scholarship of Outstanding Excellence) in his name.

Sound Training Centre, Temple Bar, in association with the charity aware will host a benefit night on Tuesday, November 18th , in Memory of STC student, Jason O’Carroll, with all proceeds on the night donated to Aware.

Jason was an outstanding student with STC academic year 2003/2004 and was one of the select few who had just made it through to our 2nd Year course. Jason was immensely popular not only with his fellow classmates but also with his peers.

STC will be unveling a plaque on the night for the newly refurbished 2nd year multimedia lab in honor of Jason. STC completed their new state of the art multimedia lab. The lab is populated with 21 music production workstations each loaded with Logic Pro, Protools, Reason V.4 and a host of third party plugins (The entire range of McDSP and Sony plugins).

There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.
