The COROMANDEL BLUEPRINT is a 50-year plan that will shape the future of the Coromandel Peninsula. The views of the YOUTH are especially important as they are the future and will be affected the most by the choices that are made today.

The Youth Competition was a great success with over 150 individuals entering and letting us know what they think through their artwork, poetry, stories, photo boards, and DVDs. We also received some awesome entries from classrooms from schools around the Coromandel - great to see schools involved!

The winners of the Youth Competition have now been chosen and have been presented their prizes. Click here to see the winning entries: http://www.coroblueprint.govt.nz/103...

The first draft of the “Blueprint” is now being put together and we hope to get this out to the public by the end of the year when we will be asking for more feedback from YOU!

  • Youth Compeition winners chosen

The Youth Competition was a great success with over 150 individuals entering. The entries were of a very high standard and really showed how much the Coromandel youth appreciates their local environment and what to help make the Coromandel a place they will still be proud of in 50 years time.

The winning entries can be viewed at:
    http://www.coroblueprint.govt.nz/103...

The entries are currently being summarised and analysed so they can feed into the overall feedback the team has received from the general consultation. The results from all this feedback will be used to shape the first draft of the Coromandel Blueprint.

Many really important issues were raised through the Youth Competition and some strong themes are starting to show. Stay tuned for some of the results to be added to this site over the next few weeks.

  • Feedback Forms and Youth Competition now CLOSED

The closing date for Feedback Forms and the Youth Competition closed on Friday 30th May with heaps of Coromandel residents and youth getting involved and having their say.

The project team has received over 2,000 feedback forms and heaps of Youth Competition entries – they look awesome! I have added some of them to the photos section and will be adding more once they’re scanned.

The team will now be summarising all the feedback we have received, including all the comments from this Bebo, and will be finding winners from the youth competition for our spot prizes. So if you’ve entered, stay tuned and find out if you’ve won!

Once all the feedback has been summarised and analysed, the results will be used to create the first draft of the Coromandel Blueprint. This will then be made available to the public to look through and make any comments. This will be near the end of the year.

Thanks again to everyone who has gotten involved and had their say!

The Blueprint Open Days around the Coromandel have now been completed and you only have until May 30th to get your feedback in.

So far we have received over 1000 feedback forms by post, and about 500 through the website BUT we REALLY need to know what the YOUTH WANT?!

Enter the Youth Creative Competition and let us know how you think the Coromandel could be made an even better place to live over the next 50 years. Entries can be in the form of writing, art, photography or how ever you like to express yourself. Heaps of spot prizes to be won by those who enter.

All of these entries will be included in the consultation for the Blueprint and your views will be heard!

TCDC's reply to Tarnz' quesion below:
TCDC doesn't have a community liaison position at the moment, but the Council is looking at whether it should develop what it calls a 'social wellbeing strategy' - this means the Council would look at the range of social issues on the Coromandel and think about what role it could have in working on those. It would include thinking about youth issues as well as others such as elderly people, gambling etc, and also whether a community liaison position would be worthwhile. But to do this it needs to find some funding. The Council will probably include this issue when it consults on its draft Ten-Year Plan (our budget) early next year. Anyone can give feedback on that, and you might want to suggest your idea then too. We can send you out a copy of the draft Plan when its ready - just let us know if you want us to do that!

Thanks for joining up and getting involved J Bax...

Construction on a replacement for the Waiomu sheds, starts today, or possibly tomorrow. TCDC will replace the old shed with a similiar one, but only better and with a cool new design. The replacement should be finished by the end of June.

Its fantastic to see that you are considering to listening to what youth want, and i guess a question that i have for you is... Would you ever consider having a Thames - Coromandel Youth Council, because then this would allow more of an input through verbal feedback rather than written??
