Citadel started as a band in the late seventies with "Silence of Surrender" on the first QFM Hometown Album & live Agora simul-cast in Columbus, Ohio. In 1990, their debut CD, "The Citadel of Cynosure & Other Tales" was chosen as "Best of KLOS Local Licks" in Los Angeles.

Shows from Ohio to California included The Agora (Newport), Legend Valley, Troubadour, Roxy and many more. The self-produced band also originated & co-produced the first ProgFest at UCLA's Royce Hall - this event changed the face of progressive music & spawned countless similar festivals across the globe.

Citadel's most recent releases, "Vintage Vinyls" "Regenerative Generation" "At The Rainbow's End" & others are available at CDBaby and at www.citadelsongs.com, along with MP3 downloads, lyrics, photos...

Now based on the West Coast, the band is always changing members around founder, R. Douglass/G. Whitman.

Citadel® D’ANthology Volume Two

The Citadel® D'ANthology will be a two CD collection released as two single volumes in the CDBaby ‘$5.oo Specials Program’, bringing to new and old fans many Citadel® songs not yet heard in the digital age - From Volume One: Are You Aware, Sermon’s End, Reaching Out, Third World War Another” From Volume Two: Relaxing Achieving, A Cynosure Concept, Reaching Out, On Death and Dying, Boy in Wonder, From the Wind, High Times, We Are Alone, Another – with Dan drumming on several Citadel® standards like Dungeons, Lothlorien, MWMC, Life and more, a total of 23 songs! Volume One will be ready around September and Volume Two will be ready in time for Christmas gift giving!

Work on the newest Citadel® release has been going slow these days and Whitman's finger is on the mend (dag nab Xacto, see pix on the Citadel® Facebook profile) but we're steadily getting back in the creative spirit – it will be worth the wait!

Citadel® D'ANthology Volume One and Two features the singing string slinging Whitman's with wildman mix-maestro and percussionist/drummer Dan Smart. Yes you’ve got it, that means even more mood swings, style switches, crazy effects, layers upon layers of voices and guitars, drums and percussion - Citadel® the Genre Smashers are in full bloom on these tune packed CD’s! Captured from the analogue masters, then carefully balanced and modestly processed, these songs sound as if they were recently recorded…
