School on Monday was dreary. I was looking forward to seeing Grace again but the clock just didn't seem to want to move. It was driving me crazy.
We were in last period. It was Biology.
The teacher had put on a boring video about transport in plants. Annabelle and Emily were talking in whispers to each other, as were most of the rest of the class. Topher hs his head on his arms and his eyes closed a few tables away from me. Aimee was glaring at him. I think she probably wanted to plan their wedding.
I thought about the meeting I had with my dad when I finally did go home yesterday. It hadn't been the best expirence of my life.
It turned out mum had invited him for dinner. Carrie and Cathy didn't seem to mind. They got on quite well with him.
I don't think I was the sort of son my dad had expected.

'Okay class, I want your homework in tomorrow if you didn't hadn it in.'
'So,' Annabelle suddenly appeared beside me as the bell rang. I stared at her in surprise.
'How did your afternoon with Grace go?' Emily appeared over Annabelle's shoulder.
'Good,' I replied cautiously. 'Why?'
'No reason,' Annabelle said lightly, but she glanced at Emily who nodded.

We headed out of the lab. Aimee dragged a annoyed looking Topher out of the room and down the corridor.

'Everyone's going down to the lake on Saturday,' Emily said 'Did you hear?'
'Yeah,' I nodded 'Since it's been usually hot lately there's going to be a barbaque.'
'Are you's going?' Emily asked
'I think so,' I nodded 'Might ask Grace to come.'

Annabelle and Emily glanced at each other again but I ignored them.

'Who's organising it?' Annabelle asked
'Julian McCain, from St. Joseph's' I replied.
'Oh, he's the hot one right?' Emily said
'Yes,' Annabelle nodded. I rolled my eyes.
'Anyway are you going?'
'I guess,' Annabelle nodded. 'Nothing better to do.'

We walked out of school together and I waved goodbye to Annabelle and Emily who headed in the direction of Emily's house. I couldn't wait to see Grace!

'And I think I'll wear my pink skirt and white blouse, what to you think?' Aimee turned to me anxiously
'I don't really care.' I said bluntly.
'Well if you wear that green t-shirt then I'll wear my white blouse and demin skirt but if you wear the yellow one I'll wear the pink.'

I sighed. It was only Monday and she was already planning her outfit for Saturday's barbaque.

'So which are you wearing?' she asked
'The blue one.'

I got up and left her sitting on the bench. I couldn't listen to her for another mintue. She was driving me crazy.

'Topher!' I should really have known she'd just follow me.
'What?' I turned to her exasperated.
'Did I annoy you?' She put her arms around my neck.

I didn't reply.

'I sorry,' she murmured. 'I just want us to look our best.' She reached up to kiss me but I pulled away.
'I gotta go,'

I left her standing looking annoyed and hurt. Quickly I was home. Nobody except mum, Kyle and Maggie was home.

'Topher!' Mum said in rlief as I walked through the door.
'Hey mum,'
'Can you look after Mags and Kyle for an hour? Freddie got himself suspended and I have to see the principal.'
'How does a seven year old get suspended?' I asked
'By putting a firework in a toilet. Luckily it didn't go off but he still got suspended.'

Mum grabbed her handbag and raced to the door.

'Your father shall be home at five and he's going to bring home William and Daniel who are at there friend's house's. Ronan is at some after school club and Peter is going to collect him at half four. Now I have to go!'

She left the kitchen quickly. Maggie was playing with some toys beside the TV and I wasn't sure where Kyle was.

'Kyle?' I shouted up the stairs.
'Yes?'
'What are you doing?' I asked. His head appeared at the top of the stairs.
'Fings...'
'Okay then, can you come down so I can keep an eye on you?'
'Kk,'

Kyle actually spoke very well for a three year old. My grandmother decided she would teach him from an early age and he was already very smart.

'Hey Mags,'

I sat down beside her and picked up an few toys. She smiled and gurgled happily. I hadn't spend much time with her lately so it was kinda nice.
Kyle came down soon after and we played together for a while.
I missed not seeing them much. Aimee demanded a lot of my time. It was hard putting up with her.

One by one my family returned home. Mum and dad were furious with Freddie.

'I cannot believe you Frederick!' Mum said, slamming take-a-away bags on the table.
'This is not something we expect from a seven year old child.' Dad put it.
'I cannot believe this,' Mu repeated to herself.

Freddie was scowling into the table. This was going to be a long evening.
