| Part 1 - Daytime | |||
| Johnny was sitting on his front lawn, just thinking. Mainly, he was thinking about his girlfriend, Linda. She was beautiful. Long blonde hair, glistening green eyes, a perfect smile. He’d gone out with her last night to the movie theatre and seen ’Night of the frozen vampires’. Johnny didn’t really like scary movies, there was never enough there to scare him, but Linda had wanted to see it, so he’d paid for two tickets and they’d gone in together. Johnny laughed as he remembered that he’d paid much more attention to Linda than to the movie. His eyes caught the house at the end of the street. It was empty; no-one had ever been in it for as long as he’d lived here. 9 years. He didn’t see why, it didn’t look out of the ordinary, Other than one window being boarded up, it didn’t look any different to any of the other houses. It even had a large field behind it, which Johnny would mess around in after school sometimes. In fact, if he remembered right, it was where he and Linda had their first kiss. He stood up and walked to the edge of his front garden. His mom wouldn’t mind if he went to the field for a bit. He walked the short distance down the street, his mind still wandering, not really focussed on anything in particular. As he passed the house, the air seemed to get colder. Johnny passed it off as being his imagination as he walked away from the house, into the field. Johnny found a nice spot to lie in, which wasn’t hard considering that that the whole field was bathed in sunlight. As he lay down, he came back to his thoughts. He liked hardly anything better than just lazing around, alone with his thoughts, the only exception being alone with Linda. It was nice and quiet in the street he lived in, as most of the residents didn’t come outside much. It had been boring during childhood, not having anyone who lived close to him who he could play with, but he learned to live with his thoughts. His imagination had been his friend. Then Linda moved in just down the street from him. He knew he liked her from the moment he saw her, but he didn’t guess then that they’d fall in love. He was 9, he had no idea what love was. Even now, he thought, He didn’t know what love was. He was 15 after all, but he was pretty damn sure that what he felt for Linda was as close as he would ever get. For four years, he and Linda were friends. They would meet up when they went outside, and just do whatever they felt like. There wasn’t a school for miles around, so they were both home schooled, and their parents weren’t too strict in letting them out, so they would play together for literally days on end sometimes, staying over each others houses overnight, and laughing and joking long through the day. Then one day, they were sitting in this field together, talking about stuff which Johnny couldn’t remember no matter hard he tried, when he just caught her eyes and suddenly noticed how beautiful she was. Her voice was softer, her hair was shinier, her eyes were more inviting. He leant over to her, she leant over to him, and they kissed. It was the biggest thrill of his life, touching those soft, smooth lips for the first time with his own. He thought he’d never feel anything better, until he’d done it again. Each kiss felt better than the last one. Each time, her lips felt smoother, softer. Each time, her eyes grew more inviting. Ever since then, they had told each other that they were meant for each other. “Heya, handsome” Said Linda’s melodic voice from across the field. Johnny smiled, and sat up to turn and face his girlfriend. “Linda, how are you?” He asked her happily, he loved it when she surprised him like this. She didn’t answer, she just ran across the field to him, knelt down, flung her arms around him, and kissed him on the lips, almost knocking him back. He returned her kiss, an she sat down next to him. “What ye doin’ back here Johnny?” She asked him. “Just lying down, thinking.” He answered. “You think a lot, don’t you?” “Yeah, you can’t help it around here, ain’t got much choice have we?” He said, as they both laughed. “What ye thinkin’ about?” Linda asked. Johnny though it was cute when she asked questions. She had a different tone in her voice when she was curious, almost more childlike. “Us.” Was Johnny’s simple answer. “Aww, what about us?” “Our first kiss, right here in this field.” “Oh yeah” Linda gasped “It was over there wasn’t it?” she said, pointing at a spot which didn’t look any different to any of the rsest of the field “God, this field hasn’t changed a ruddy bit has it?” Johnny didn’t answer, he couldn’t think of anything to answer with, so he just stared at Linda, gazing at her deep green eyes. “Tell ye what then, How about I give you another?” She said, before leaning over, just as she had on that day, and kissing him. “So, what ye doin’ later?” She asked him, when they pulled away from each other. “Dunno, you wanna hang out?” “Silly dick, o’ course I do.” She said, and they both laughed. “So errm, what ye wanna do? We could see another movie?” “Na, I was thinkin’ we could just hang out ‘round my house for a bit. Maybe just sit around in my bedroom” She imitated scratching him, like a kitten, Johnny thought it looked cute on her. “Yeah, I’d love that” Said Johnny, as she burst into a smile, and put her arms around his neck “Oh, I Love You” | |||
