Chapter Seven

Well, it's a few weeks later and things haven't really been going so smoothly. Not just between Hayley and I but all of us. And I can't stand it and I don't know what to do about it. See, Hayley's been getting contacted by Chad Gilbert from the band New Found Glory. Chad's had this thing for Hayley for the longest time and to be honest, I think it's disgusting! The dude's 27 for one, I mean, chase after someone your own age, jeez... And two, Hayley's my girlfriend. We're in love with each other and promised that nothing would break us apart. Lately, I'm getting a not so good feeling in the pit of my stomach... meaning that Chad could twist my own words around and be the something that did. But no, that couldn't happen! I mean, Hayley's afraid of the guy. It's pretty sad, too, seeing as how we're good friends with the band. Of course, me not so much with Chad anymore. We used to be but then again that was before I was with Hayley. Now, whenever we're around the guys, Chad stares at Hayley creepily and it scares her. She won't even go near him, she'll run over to me and clutch at my arm and practically hide behind my back. It's hard for me to see her so scared of this one guy and seeing her look over her shoulder every few seconds. She told me once, confidentially, that she always feels like she's being watched nowadays. It's driven her to the point where she's afraid of sleeping in her own bunk even so she hops down and bunks with me. Has been for the past few days. I can only imagine what she's feeling... fear, panic, not to mention uncomfortable... scared. Man, I swear if that ogre lays a hand on my Hayley, he's gonna wish he'd never been born.
Since, we had a day off today, we decided on staying in the bus... actually, scratch that, /Hayley/ decided on staying in the bus. She didn't want Chad to try anything by sneaking into the bus to get to her or anything. Would he really try that? I don't know but I didn't wanna take any chances so I offered to stay with her just in case. The rest of the guys had left, thinking it was silly that we were taking this so seriously. And this would be where that saying 'better safe than sorry' comes in. I lay on the couch in the back room of the bus with Hayley cradled in my arms, her head resting on my chest right where my heart was beating wildly. She told me that hearing my heart beating soothed her and I was glad that it did. My fingers found their way to her hair, twirling the bright red and orange strands in my hands.

Six...
That's how many times so far that Hayley has looked behind her. Of course she tried to be subtle about it but Hayley can never be subtle to save her life. And I felt the seventh time coming because I saw her hazel-green eyes widen slightly and slowly creep to the left and her head was about to turn. I also felt her tense a little. She'd been rather jumpy lately, a paperclip dropping would probably give her a heart attack. Though, we were taking this seriously, I couldn't help but let a smirk creep onto my face as I watched her amusedly. "Seven," I said, simply, causing her to snap her head back in my direction. "Huh?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "Seven. That's how many times you've looked over your shoulder today," I informed her and her eyes became sullen and she looked away, slowly dropping her chin back on my chest. "Hayley..." I sighed, shifting a bit causing her to move and she succumbed to sitting indian-style in front me. I saw a small pout on her face as she was no longer warm anymore. "You have got to calm down. You know I'd never let him lay a finger on you, right?" I asked, softly, placing my hand gently on her knee and pulling myself closer to her. She averted her gaze and fiddled with her fingers apprehensively. All she did was shrug. I'm afraid that wasn't good enough for me. I placed a finger under her chin and made her look at me. "I won't let him do anything to you. Now I'm not saying that he has any intentions on doing so, I mean, it could just be a crush but he handles them in a creepy way, but still, I won't let him touch you. I swear I won't," I told her, with as much confidence and honesty as I could muster, without even tearing my gaze away from hers. Her hazel-green eyes were searching me, searching my soul, trying to make sure that I wasn't lying to her and it made me shiver. I'd never lie to her. But I didn't even have to say anything because I saw a small smile creep onto her features and she gave just a single nod. "Okay, you promise?" She asked, locking her eyes with mine. "Pinky promise," I corrected, holding out my pinky finger and she giggled but nodded, twining her own pinky finger with mine and we shook.

There was no way that I'd ever break that promise.

I chuckled lightly and leant in and kissed her softly and I felt her kiss me back and reluctanly pulled away. She launched herself at me and wrapped her slender arms around my neck and climbing into my lap. Naturally, I hugged her back but she was kinda holding on a little too tightly and I coughed. "Hayles... lemme go," I breathed as she nearly suffocated me to death. "Need to breathe..." I whined and she just giggled, loosening her grip but not pulling out of the embrace. She looked deep into my brown eyes and smiled contentedly, I pressed my forehead against hers and reached my hand up to brush against her neck. It was only meant to be a simple, sweet gesture but the next thing I knew she had me pressed down on the couch and she was all over me. Her lips reached mine and I detected a hint of want in the way she was kissing me in an almost sloppy manner. She wanted me? Gee, maybe I should make promises to her more often... Her hands slinked their way around my waist and to the bottom of my shirt, and she forcefully lifted it up and over my head and she carelessly tossed it onto the floor. She was completely in dominant control as I felt her hands roaming around my chest as my eyes fluttered closed in bliss. My hands soon found their way to her shirt but as I was about to tear it off her, I heard a jingling sound coming from the small table nearby. It was hard to center on what it could be with Hayley's tongue flicking everywhere reachable on my freaking body. But I recognized it as my cell phone and I groaned as I tried sitting up to get it but Hayley wouldn't have it and she grabbed my shoulders, shoving me back down. "It can't be that important," she mumbled against my lips as she kissed lustfully away, nipping at the skin on my neck every now and then causing me to moan in pleasure. "Mmh, no, c'mon, 'ayles..." It was hard to choke out while biting back the need to moan every second. My hands snatched at her waist, pulling her away from me as I sat up and reached for my cell phone, that had stopped ringing and dancing across the table as it vibrated. As I went to grab it, I felt Hayley move in behind me and playfully grasped at my hips, causing me to jump and I heard her giggling. According to my voice mail, it said that Zac had called and I groaned, rolling my eyes and pressing the receiver to my ear as I listened to the message that my little brother had left. As I listened, my eyes grew wide and Hayley must have noticed because she stopped fooling around with me and watched, her eyes slowly widening. I dropped the phone and stood up abruptly causing Hayley to do the same. "Wh - what is it?" she asked, her voice sounding panicked. I grabbed my shirt and pulled it back over my head and I grabbed her hand and tugged her to me. "Josh, you're scaring me, what is going on?" she asked, ripping her hand out of my grip and I turned my head to look into her beautiful hazel-green eyes.

"Chad's on his way here," I told her and immediately I regretted doing so for those beautiful eyes became corrupted in fear.
