Part 2 - Nighttime

Johnny woke up to a loud flash of lightning. Seconds later, the accompanying thunder followed. He was lying in the middle of Linda’s bedroom floor, with his arms wrapped around Linda. He lay down for a while, trying to get back to sleep, but every time he got near to sleep, thunder would wake him abruptly. Johnny dislodged himself from Linda and stood up. He looked over the floor and saw six empty beer bottles, three each, he thought. Johnny’s head hurt slightly. It wasn’t a full headache, he’d dank way more than three bottles before, but as he looked down at Linda, he saw that three bottles must have been enough to influence them.

She was topless, and so was he. They both still had their trousers on though. Even drunk, Johnny wouldn’t even try it until she was at least 18. Obviously though, it seemed they hadn’t minded a bit of fun before then. Johnny laughed to himself and walked over to the window. It wasn’t raining, just thundering and lightning. His eyes swept the street. Not a single light was on in any of the houses. He looked down at his wrist, before remembering that he didn’t wear a watch.

Something at the end of the street caught his eye, it was the house in front of the field. It was different in the night. By night it looked more like a shack than a house. Johnny had never noticed how different it looked before. It was strange. It wasn’t just a trick of the light, the whole house had transformed, as with the field behind it. Trees had emerged in the field, and they hadn’t come healthy. They were leafless, almost dead. A fence had been half buried in the front garden, just a corner post protruded from the ground. The door had completely disappeared, and all the bricks looked old and worn. One of the windows was uncovered, while all the others had been completely covered in boards.
The window which was uncovered flashed with light, and a body pressed itself against the window. Johnny stood back, shocked. He watched the window, but nothing happened again until he was just going back to Linda. As he left the window, something in the street caught his eye. It looked like smoke. When it cleared, a cloaked figure stepped out. It walked up to the house, and for a second Johnny thought he was going to walk into the wall. He was half right, the figure walked through the wall.

Johnny walked across the room to the door, when a muffled sound came from behind him. Johnny turned round, and saw that it was Linda starting to wake up.
“Johnny? What’s up Johnny?” She mumbled.
“I thought I saw somthin’ across the road, by that house at the end of the street”
“Hold on, I’m comin’ too.” She said, before getting up slowly. She walked over to the door with him.
“Linda, you can’t come out like that. Its freezing out, put some clothes on.”

Linda looked down at her half naked body and blushed so badly her face seemed to be glowing.

“Oh, errm Johnny, I’m sorry, I …errm…” She started stammering
“It doesn’t matter, I think they’re nice.” laughed Johnny, as Linda found her t-shirt, and slipped it on
“Come on, our coats are downstairs, yours is still here from last week.” Said Linda. Johnny was around Linda’s house so much, it probably wasn’t just his coat that was here. The same was true of Linda, she was always around Johnny’s house, and she had just as much stuff there as he had here.

They found their coats and threw them on, before opening the front door, and shutting it behind them as quietly as possible so that they wouldn’t wake Linda’s mother. The air was cold, and the clouds in the sky were black, but it still wasn’t raining. They walked down the road to the house together, and just stood outside, looking at it.

“What did you see Johnny?” asked Linda, whispering slightly.
“I dunno, it just sorta… appeared. I mean, I didn’t see its face, and then it just walked through the wall.”
“Through the wall!” Exclaimed Linda.

There was a click behind them, and they both shot around to look at where it had came from. Nothing was there, and Linda put her arms around Johnny.

“I’m scared Johnny, lets go back home.” Linda said, her voice almost as shaky as she was. Johnny started walking towards Linda’s house, when he stopped suddenly. The air started to grow thicker, and it seemed to turn grey. Johnny grabbed Linda’s hand and started to run, but the air turned to smoke and it was impossible to see anymore.

Johnny carried on running anyway, when his foot caught something on the ground. He toppled over, and Linda fell on top of him. The smoke started clearing as he scrambled to his feet, dragging Linda up behind him. He carried on running, but only managed a few steps before a hand clamped around his shoulder.

“Well, well, what do we have here?” said a voice from behind him, presumably the same one that belonged to the hand. “Two young ones, ah, the blood of the young is so hard to come by these days, but it is by far the tastiest. Did you know that vampire law only allows us to drink young blood if it finds us? No, we’re not allowed to go looking for it.” He looked over Johnny and Linda. “But why are you resisting young ones? Surely you came here to know what is in the building there? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s a vampire party, and I have good news, you get to come.” He said, before sinking his teeth into Johnny’s neck. If Johnny thought his first kiss was the greatest thrill of his life, he was very mistaken when he first tasted Linda’s sweet blood.
