Passion and Jealousy

July 15th, 3859 A.E

Over the past month, Dai had been giving Joe a tour around Fang. The final area to cover was the ground around of the domicile. The thick forests around the mountains thinned into a clearing, where Fang was located. However, if you kept walking through the forest, past the fortress, you will reach another clearing. Very few knew about the location Dai uncovered to Joe. The ground was thick and earthy, with blue and white blossoms sprouting amongst the emerald blades of grass. It was warm evening, and fall had just begun. Joe’s heavy, black boots made the dry leaves crunch under their weight, the sound echoing like cracking bones, compared to Dai’s bare feet that moved silently.

The sky was growing dark as the sun slowly set. Pale pinks, reds and oranges smeared across the horizon, tinting the few clouds that littered the heavens. The sea sparkled in the distance, with the sun’s face reflecting across its watery surface. Joe leant forward, against the stonewall that was built to stop people falling off the edge of the plain, which was sited on top of a cliff. Dai joined him a few moments later as a warm breeze drifted over him; uplifting the blossom’s aroma, allow him to inhale the delicate scent. Hauling himself on top of the wall, Dai seated himself with his back to the horizon, as he watched Joe’s expression change as sun continued to set. Joe turned to Dai, feeling his gaze on him, and smiled softly.

“Have you ever seen anything so beautiful in your entire life?” he asked, turning back to face the view in front of him. From the corner of his eye, Joe saw Dai nod, before the blonde turned his head to look inland. The cotton, long sleeved, black top Dai seemed to have lived in ever since Joe's arrival rippled around his chest as the wind blew through it playfully. The torn, baggy black jeans received the same treatment. His blonde hair curtained his facial features, hiding them from Joe's gaze. Most of Joes own clothes had been taken from him in the infirmary - to be cleaned, soon after he entered fangs domicile, when Dai had taken him to get his neck patched up. There was now only a light bandage wrapped around his throat, compared to the thick gauze he'd started out with. The silk shirt he'd received from David still remained across his back, a constant reminder of the Prince. Once the sun had set, the heavens continuing to darken, Joe also turned around to look towards Fang; his back leant against the cold stone. Dai had become interested in some moss that was growing along the top of the wall, picking at it vacantly, obviously deep in thought.

Joe grew stiff quickly in his current position so stretched to relieve his back of its dull ache before turning to face Dai and flopping onto his back. This earned a roll of the eyes from Dai in response, as the blonde looked down at the brunette, whom was staring up at the sky. From his hunched position, Dai’s back in turn also began to ache, forcing him to stretch his back also, and retreat to the ground next to Joe. He rolled onto his side, facing the blonde, whom had closed his eyes, and poke his cheek playfully. “Nice of you to join me.” This gained a swat being aimed towards Joe’s invading hand, as the blonde smiled smugly to himself.

The two were quiet for some time. Dai resting his eyes, opening them on the odd occasion to look up at the stars before closing them again, and Joe watching Dai. A light blush developed across the blonde’s cheeks at all the attention Joe was giving him. And the longer Joe stared at Dai, the deeper the blush got. Once the blush had developed so far, that Dai almost thought his face was on fire, Joe let out a disheartened sighed and rolled over onto his back again. Dai also sighed, though in relief and turned his head slightly to see what was troubling the brunette. However, the words that slipped free from Joe’s lips were not words he was expecting to hear…

“Why does my heart tarry on these deluded addictions to princes?” Joe asked himself, not realising that Dai had eavesdropped on his spoken thoughts. The blonde’s heart skipping a beat when his sharp ears picked up Joe’s confession. This went unknown by Joe, until the blonde voiced his curiosity.

“What makes you think that?” The brunette turned his head to look at Dai, slightly startled that the blonde had listened in. In an attempt to avoid the question, he replied with another.

“Think what?” Dai did not fall for the fake innocence that Joe put up in front of his real feelings, like a mask slipping into place. His face twisted with confusion, causing his eyes to give out a hurt expression, but alas, in his torment, Dai’s real feelings slipped out from behind his own mask. In turn, Joe picked up on these hidden emotions, causing him to sigh again and sit up to look directly ahead of him, avoiding Dai’s gaze.

“I am not worthy of such adoration, Dai…a creature like me does not deserve love…you are beyond me…” His eyes closed, hiding his sorrow upon spilling his heart to the blonde besides him, whose features twisted in pain. Dai sat up also, resting a hand on Joe’s shoulder in comfort, only to have it shrugged away. “Please…don’t…” Joe begged, hugging his knees to this chest. Dai flinched, hurt by Joe’s rejection.

“Spare my heart the agony and my mind the lecture, Joe. Yes we are creatures of the night, but that does not mean to say that we are unworthy of love…” Dai stated, contradicting Joe’s views with his own. He leant closer to the brunette and brushed his bangs out of his eyes, before applying a little pressure to Joe’s chin, making him turn his head towards him slightly. “Am I…also unworthy of love…?” Joe’s head snapped up and around further, looking at Dai head on. The blonde smiled softly, removing his hand, and leant back to give Joe his personal space back.

Rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, Joe looked around before moving closer to Dai. His left hand rested behind Dai, while his right was draped over his bent right knee. His left leg was stretched out in front of him.

“I’ll be honest with you…a few months ago; I would have lusted after a number of guys, and girls…but after what’s happened… I don’t want to do that any more…” Joe raised his right hand off his knee and placed it on top of Dai’s, a soft blush forming across the blonde’s cheeks. “It’s different with you…” His hand moved off Dai’s knee to his arm, where he ran the back of his fingers slowly down to the blonde’s wrist. “I feel that I can be myself around you…” The fingers moved down lower, tracing light circles on the back of Dai’s hand. “I’m not afraid to show weakness…” His fingers lace with Dai’s “I’m not afraid…to love…” Causing Dai to raise his head slightly, the blush having grown darker once more.

Joe leant his head in further, so their noses almost touched. However Dai had other plans, pulling away and breaking all contact Joe had with him. He stalked a few paces away before wrapping his arms around his waist.

“Why must you say such things?” His voice was slightly cracked, it was clear that he was struggling to accept this was really happening. Joe approached him, taking it slow so that he didn’t scare Dai more than he already was.

“I must…for not to say them to you every second of everyday tears me apart…” He slowly reached out to Dai and brushed his fingertips against Dai's arm again. This time the blonde did not turn him away, but instead dropped his arms and took hold of Joe’s hands in his own.

“Then I must let you speak, else there shall be nothing left of you…” Dai teased playfully, moving a little closer, aided by Joe, whom had placed an arm around Dai’s waist and pulled. The brunette then shook his head, eyes hooded in desire.

“I’m through with words…” He then sealed his lips with Dai’s; raising the blondes arms to place them around his neck, before placing his own back around Dai’s waist, to deepen the kiss.

However, in the highest tower of the domicile, someone watched the two lovers in their little clearing. The more he watched, the more his heart filled with hate towards the new arrival in Fang. It seemed Joe didn’t just have enemies with the Vampires after all…

The sky had already turned a deep midnight blue well before Dai and Joe got back to their own respected rooms. Joe walked Dai back to his chambers, before saying goodnight. Looking around, Joe risked giving Dai a quick peck on the cheek before taking off to his own chambers. A soft blush covered the blonde’s cheeks, as he cupped one with his hand. Sighing dreamily, he opened the large oak door behind him and entered, wanting to go to bed and hope it wasn’t all a dream. Unfortunately for Dai, sleep was a long time coming…

Joe lay sprawled across his large 4-poster bed and stared at the drapes that hung from its wooden frame. He also let out a sigh, before sitting up slightly to pull his shirt over his head and throw it to the foot of the bed where it draped over the footboard far from gracefully. However, with the properties silk had against something hard and smooth, it didn’t take long for gravity to play its part and make it slowly slink off the wood and slump into a heap on the floor. Once his back made contact with the red satin sheets, Joe’s eyes slowly became heavy and his mind wondered of into the land of dreams, where Dai still had yet to retreat to.

At the far end of the corridor, within Dai’s chambers, crashes and shouting could be heard. A spine chilling shatter echoed around the room as a vase connected with wall. Lucullus had been waiting in Dai’s room for an hour or so before the blonde had returned with Joe. He was also the culprit for the throwing of random objects, most fragile, causing Dai to cower in the far corner, his arms wrapped protectively around his head.

The hatred and jealousy had built up within Lucullus’ heart over the hour or so since he had seen the two teens in the clearing. Now he stood, shaking with anger, hands clenched tightly, glaring down at the sobbing wreck but a few feet away from him. Closing the gap, Lucullus dropped down onto his knee and lifted Dai’s chin roughly, making eye contact.

“You have but two choices… I shall allow this to continue, under strict terms, if he does not stray you from your path… Or…I shall have him removed from the domicile in order to make certain that he does not…It’s your choice…” Releasing Dai’s golden locks, Lucullus stood up and took one stop back and awaited Dai’s answer. The blonde looked up at him, having wiped away the tears from his eyes and cheeks.

“What are the terms…?” His voice was cracked from crying, words shaking with uncertainty of what would happen now. Lucullus sighed; glad to have got through to the teenager.

“No late nights, no public displays of affection and absolutely no sleepovers. Understood?” This received a slow nod from Dai, whom was slowly calming himself down. “Oh and one more thing…” Lucullus reached out towards Dai and ran a finger down the blonde’s cheek. There was a tingling sensation, which confused Dai at first. It was not until Lucullus had left and Dai had looked in the mirror, after cleaning up the mess the elder had made, that he realised the long scar, which had disrupted his facial features had vanished.

For almost half an hour afterward, Dai kept probing and running a hand over the now smooth, clear skin before his eyes. Long had his dreams been testing him with even features, and to now have them, made Dai’s heart sing. He wanted to show Joe, but knew that if Lucullus caught him out of bed at this hour, he would be in big trouble. Deciding that waiting was for the best; Dai readied for bed and slipped beneath the red satin sheets.

Around 5 in the morning Dai's door clicked open and closed. The room was dark inside; only a dying candle illuminated the bedside as Joe walked over to a sleeping Dai, whom was tangled up in the sheets. He looked like a sleeping angel; the left side of his face was hidden against the pillow. His blonde hair was spread out around his head on the pillow, giving him an, almost, golden halo. A slight pout had formed on his lips as Dai slept, which made him look even more adorable.

Joe brushed a strand of hair out of Dai's face, and back behind his ear. Dai started to stir softly, before sleeping once again. Rolling his eyes, Joe sat on the edge of the bed and attempted to shake awake the blonde before him, whom was now sleeping on his stomach. When Dai did come to, he attempted to roll over onto his back. This did not go according to plan, as Dai rolled onto Joe instead, toppling them both onto the floor in another tangle of bed sheets.

A groan emitted from the pile of tangled limbs and bed sheets. Blonde hair entwined with brown. Sleepy green eyes locked with blue. Lips curled upwards into a small smile, before melting into a soft kiss. Dai pulled away, pushing against Joe’s chest in an attempt to sit up, only to be pulled back down again.

“No…5 more minutes…” Joe’s lips moved down his lover’s neck in soft kisses and licks. A shiver ran through Dai’s body as he tried to resist the mouth that made his skin tingle and heart flutter wildly in his chest. Letting out a frustrated groan, opposite to the tired one he’d voiced earlier, Dai pushed Joe back further into the sheet covered floor and claimed the brunette’s lips in a hot, fiery kiss. Pulling away again, before he lost total control of his desires, Dai sat up, leaving Joe in a puddle of lust amongst the sheets.

Joe pulled Dai back down against his chest and held him close, stroking through his hair. He then noticed the missing scar and pulled Dai's face up to take a closer look. "When did-" He was silenced when Dai's finger touched his lips.

"Lucullus did." Joe rolled his eyes and leant forward to kiss down the now smooth forehead, eye and cheek. He then moved across and kisses Dai softly on the lips. When the kiss began to deepen, Dai pulled away again. “We really shouldn’t do this…if Lucullus finds you in here at this hour we’re both dead.” Dai became a little distracted during his statement, due to a hand sliding up and down his bare chest.

“Stop worrying babe, that stuffy elder doesn’t know a thi- Dai… What’s wrong?” Joe was cut off when he saw the sudden change, in Dai’s facial expression, from lust to guilt. “So…he knows then…? Shit, how could I have been so careless?” The brunette flopped backwards further, pulling at his hair. Pale hands took hold of tanned, relinquishing them of their hold on the silky locks, and kissed them lovingly.

“Do not fret…so long as we are careful no harm shall come to us.” Dai whispered while petting and stroking Joe’s hair in order to try and calm him. This caused the teen beneath him to raise an eyebrow.

“What do you mean by ‘careful’?” Joe sat up again, crossing his legs beneath him as Dai straddled his hips; his forehead lined with worry. These lines were smoothed away when Dai’s hands stroked along Joe’s jaw line and down the side of his face.

“Meaning…” Dai cleared his throat and quoted Lucullus from their talk the night before, mimicking his voice. “No more late nights, like last night, no public displays of affection and absolutely no sleepovers.” The two burst into laughter, before Dai gave a playful wink to Joe. “But he didn’t say we couldn’t slip in and out of our rooms during the day…” Dai then crawled backwards off Joe's lap, onto his hands and knees, and kissed down Joe’s neck, over the bandages. A fierce blush took Joe’s cheeks captive as the meaning of what Dai said slowly began to sink in. It was only when the teen began to giggle deviously that Dai realised his lovers head was swimming with very naughty thoughts…
