Chapter 11

Aidan's P.O.V.

"Father," I said gravely, upon entering his office. My father is a burly man with a mustache which I dare to say he is quite proud of of. He stood at 6 foot 8, which slightly intimidated me nonetheless. I had inherited his black hair but my eyes from my late mother, Vivienne.
"Aidan? What I surprise! I wasn't expecting you here," he said, looking up from his papers. My father was a rich man, to say the least. I mean, mega-rich... sometimes I don't know how he could cope with all the media attention he got all the time,
"I... We... It's about this marriage," I said quickly not daring to move an inch from where I was standing. I saw my father's jaw clench but he put down his pen and folded his hands together looking at me with... this look, I couldn't describe it,
"What of your marriage?" he said tightly,
"I don't think... that this is the best idea," I said, immediately hanging my head not wanting to see his face,
"What boy?!" I heard my father exploded, from past experience I wisely remained quiet, "You don't think this marriage is a good idea? Don't you understand?! LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!" I slowly lifted my heard and looked at him. His had a face of thunder and his mustache bristled in fury,
"This is what is best for you, son!" he said, quietly but firmly,
"But Father! I never wanted this!" I said, pleadingly. His eyes flashed dangerously,
"This is not about what you WANT. What you NEED is more important, a nice wife is what you need. To keep you in control," he finished, looking at me defiantly,
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, glaring at him,
"You know what I mean," he said, not daring to touch on the matter. And of course I DID know what he meant. He was referring to my earlier days where I was dealing with drugs, drink and prostitution. I always did blame this on Father moving me so suddenly, but have come to realize that it was nothing but my own fault. Of course, once the media found out about my... extracurricular activities, they fed on it like vultures and I was in the papers within 24 hours. My father was in turmoil and of course set up this arranged marriage as way to "control" me,
"I will not marry her!" I shouted, stomping my foot like a 5 year old, "I love somebody else!" I said, defiantly. He stayed silent but his eyebrows raised a notch,
"Aidan.... we talked about that girl--" I cut him off,
"That girl has a name! It's Suki and I love her," I said, crossing my arms glaring him,
"Aidan..." he started, but yet again I interrupted him,
"NO! Don't Aidan me, stop patronizing me! I will not marry that bimbo I should call a bride-to-be! You cannot force me to marry someone I don't love," marching up to the desk I slammed a hand onto his desk in fury. His eyebrows knitted together,
"You will grow to love her," he said, stubbornly,
"I do not want to GROW to love her. I'm already in love and frankly you cannot help who you fall in love with, can you?" I asked, more quietly this time. My father's eyes instinctively softened as I reminded him of my mother. Vivienne was a beautiful woman with long, flowing, curly brunette hair and the softest emerald green eyes you had ever seen. My father had said it was love at first sight,
"You remember you and mother... that's what it's like for Suki and I," I said, my own eyes softening,
"I... I, well..." my father stuttered, not knowing what to say although looking as though he was overtaken by gratitude,
"What was I thinking?" he muttered, more to himself, "You can't marry her!" he continued. I looked at him puzzled,
"For some reason I have seen the light. Thank you for opening my eyes to my stupidness... of course you can't marry her, she's not your type!" he said grinning slightly. I chuckled heartily. Things were definitely looking up.

Suki's P.O.V.

"When I thought he was mine
She caught him by the mouth
I waited eight long months
She finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie
He was the only one for me..."
Misery Business - Paramore

That whole segment of the song is my life in a nutshell. Upon Maria's instructions I didn't do anything and waited for the "pieces to fall were they may".
I sighed as I tapped the last bit of my article, Obama or Clinton? and clicked Print. It had been an exhausting day at work, what with me explaining my situation with the whole Aidan marrying thing and Alex looking me sympathetically and saying, "I had a guy like that once... total babe," I had rolled my eyes and chuckled. He offered to take me for a drink but I politely refused, I had to much work to do I said.
Now as the day was ending I could feel the tiredness roll off me. I hadn't slept properly in days, my mind twisting around the Aidan problem. Doing nothing was easier said than done. I itched to send him an email to tell him... everything and nothing. I wished to see him again and most of all, all I wanted to do was hold him and never let him go. There's that saying goes "If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours; if they don't they never were." I severely hoped he would come back and be mine.
Zzzzzz, zzzz.
I turned my head to my cellphone and stared at it for a few minutes before answering,
"Hallo?" I asked in a tired voice, I was most likely to drop off to sleep right that second,
"Suki?" my heart skipped several beats and I was suddenly more awake than ever,
"Aidan?" I asked softly, I heard a sigh and a rustle at the end of the line,
"Look, I'm outside... can we talk?" My eyes widened and I quickly ran to the window and pulled up the blinds. Looking down, I indeed saw Aidan standing there, the rain pummeling down on his face. He looked up and upon seeing me he waved jovially and gave me a twinkling smile,
"Of course! One mo, let me get my stuff," I said, before saying bye and clicking off. My heart hammered in my chest, seems Maria's advice paid off.

"Aidan?" I called out into the dark rain covered street,
"Over here," I heard, turning my head I instinctively smiled as I saw Aidan standing in an alcove just by the of the office building.Trying to contain my excitement I made my way over to Aidan, ignoring the pelting rain. As soon as I reached him, he enveloped me a huge bear hug. I surprised to say the least but eagerly returned it, reveling in his touch. He felt so warm and safe, I felt protected--
"Suki and Aidan, hasn't it been a long time?" Aidan and I looked up and widened our eyes in surprise,
"What the...?" Aidan muttered softly,
"Hope you haven't forgotten me," the person said, sneering slightly. The clouds above the person darkened slightly and cast a threatening shadow upon them,
"Don't say anything either of you," the person continued, raising a small pistol. I instinctively clutched onto Aidan in fear.
Click.
"Today's a good day to die," the person laughed a little and aimed the pistol at my forehead.
