Old Skool

We climb in through a broken window
And a gap in the railings.
Textbooks all over the floor and
The walls as bare as brick.

The blinds bang against the window frame and make horribly convincing
People-Getting-In Noises
That chip into the heart's internal rumbles.

I came here everyday and
Know my way around.
I go where I couldn't in the glory days
And it's all familiar
Like déjà vu.
The whole place is
Like déjà vu-like déjà vu
That’s been screwed up
By the devil
(Or by vandals)

Glue kills.
I’ve found
Two dead mice
In a pile of it.
Protected from those that eat death
By the very thing that killed them.
Ironic.

I prefer
Old Skool to
New Skool.
Ironic.

But evolution is a fact of nature even when
It doesn’t improve.
