| EXCERPT FROM THE 9TH DAY The Mall of America was packed with people as Tessa walked the stores slowly just so people wouldn't notice how lost she really was. She found clothes she had never seen in Omaha. However, because they were a little too much for most people to accept, except maybe strippers and hookers, it was tempting but she passed on them. When she finally found her way to the parking lot, hopefully her car would show up soon. The parking lot being bigger than the store she figured, she smiled as she found Texas where her car was parked. She crossed the street into the garage, shook her head and walked down until she found D 14 and a half an hour later, her car. She had never been so happy to see a piece of metal in her life and if small children and their parents hadn't been there, she probably would have stripped and did a little dance on it. She unlocked it, slid into the seat, closed the door, and locked it, sitting for a moment just tickled pink to have found the car. You never know how much you miss something until you get lost in the Mall of America parking lot and it takes you two hours to find the spot you left your damn car. And your pretty sure someone is moving your car on you as some bad practical joke, while they sit back, laughing their ass off watching you try to find it. A loud thump on her trunk startled her, she swung her head around to see the flash of black coats in the rear window, and she turned around looked out the window to see a black hockey mask staring back at her. She jumped at bit as her heart began to race, he stood up and walked away. She could hear them laughing, one turned and stopped, waving at her with his head cocked to the side. She shook her head and started the car as her heart raced hard inside her chest. "Shit." She said under her breath as her heart did a funky lets pound the shit out of her chest thing. Slowly she backed out of the parking space. Sliding it into drive, she looked up, took a deep breath and noticed that in the middle of the parking lot one of the figures stood and stared at her, unmoving. Tessa stared at him in confusion, her heart stopped for a moment as they stared at one another and somewhere deep inside fear started to grow. A horn blared behind her made her jump and she glanced in the rear view mirror to find an impatient driver. When she looked to the front again, the man was gone. "What the hell?" She asked aloud as she looked around for the man. She left the parking lot and headed back to the Hotel, wherever the hell that was she wasn't exactly sure, so she decided to drive north until she hit ST. Paul or Minneapolis and go from there. An hour and forty-six minutes later, she hit St. Paul, another hour and twenty minutes, six wrong turns and a run in with a local Police Officer, she found Kellogg Street and eventually pulled up the hotel. | |||
