It’s like when I was born I guess
Someone was waiting for the good news
Pacing up and down hospital corridors
Like walking past church pews
Up the isle on their wedding day
I was waiting for you
From my first breath
That waited to breath in you
My first heart beat
That waited for your heart beat to return
My first sight
Waited to see you
It was all in practise for the most important moment
Waiting patiently silently
Yet screaming on the inside
Missing someone
That I’d never even met
And I waited...
For the time to come
Where I’d be completed
Where I’d mean something
Where it would all be for the moment
For the hours spent without you
Would be made up by the seconds spent with you
And the things that people told me that meant nothing

And all the tears I cried didn’t mean anything
Because they were wiped away by your gentle laughter

As seconds turn into minutes
Hours into days
