	Chocolate Fever

	The girl’s face lit up and she quickly shoved the chocolates under the end of her sari in case the other women spotted them. An old hunchbacked woman was busy sweeping the floors entering the room. She didn’t notice the chocolates. Ruponeeta thought she saw Sister Joanne winking at her as she hurried away to take her last English class of the day. Ruponeeta looked forward to the days the nuns visited the Ashram, it was only once in a month. Later, Ruponeeta took a lit candle into the toilet and placed it on the windowsill. Hungrily, she unwrapped a chocolate, placed it in her mouth and closed her eyes as the smooth chocolate ran down her throat. Like a victim hiding from its predator, Ruponeeta stayed out of sight until she heard no sounds from outside the toilet door then carefully burnt the chocolate wrapper and sauntered casually back into the chamber.
