The love game
 
By 1586 Elizabeth knew she would never marry. Many suitors tried, many, as a joke however there was one man who went beyond a joke his name was Robert Deveraux.Son of Lattice, stepson of the Earl of leister (Robert Dudley) the love of Elizabeth’s life. He was tall, handsome, everything a man should be. However the age gap between Robert and Elizabeth was large Elizabeth was 53 and Robert was 19. Many people didn’t understand their relationship. She gave him the profits from the wines, she let him organise and go to war. However he was a hothead who longed for power and advancement. Whatever he did wrong she always forgave him. She said to him “whatever you do against me as a person, a woman I can forgive, whatever you do against England merits instant death” Robert raised a rebellion against the queen and Elizabeth was forced to act. He was found guilty of treason and was sentenced to be beheaded. On the day of the execution Elizabeth wept in her chamber.
