| Chapter Three Davin decided to get a head start on the contracts that she had lined up earlier in the day before Jason's attack. Her return to the station was uneventful. She smiled at the night guard. He knew her, because she had come this late before. “Good evening, Miss Ramberg,” he said as he tipped his hat to her. “Hello, Joel. You’re looking good tonight. Have you been losing weight?” Davin said. “Yes, I have. Thank you for noticing,” Joel replied. “You're welcome. That’s my job. I'm supposed to notice small details,” she said as she entered the elevator and the doors closed. The ride in the elevator was lonely and quiet. She anticipated sales with some of her new clients; the job got her mind off of the attack. As Davin stepped out of the elevator, she noticed the light in Jon's office was still on. She decided to see what was keeping him after hours. "You're here late," she said as she opened the door. "I'm filling out paper work on our new DJ," he replied. "How are you feeling?" "Better...new DJ? That was fast. Is he going to be able to start soon?" "I'm not sure," Jon said as he handed her the paper work. A shock wave traveled down her spine. She could not believe what she was reading. "He's from Ireland," she said a little surprised in her voice. "Yea," he replied as he leaned back in his chair. "Do you have problem with it?" "No, I mean," she stopped and caught herself. "I mean...is he legal? It wouldn’t look good for us if he wasn't." "He's here on a work visa," he said gauging her reaction. "I feel we could cut him a break. He also said he was here looking for his mom." "His mom? It says here he was born and raised in Tralee, Ireland," she said as she leaned back against the desk. "I talked to him on the phone. You know…to feel him out. He told me his mother was an American. After he was born she abandoned him at an orphanage." As he was telling her this, she started to giggle. "What?” he asked. "You find this amusing? I think it's sad myself. Who would abandon their kid in another country?" "No, but yea... it is sad, Jon. I’m laughing at this," she said with a giggle in her voice. "What kind of name is Pan Trinity?" "His...I guess," he chuckled. "You better do what ever you came to do. I want you here when he comes in tomorrow." "Oh my God," she said as she laid the paper back on the desk. "Alright, I'll see you in the morning." Davin turned toward the door shaking her head in disbelief. She was not sure what to think about this new disc jockey. Davin decided to skip what she was there to do and head on home. Again the night watchman smiled at her as he bid her a 'good night'. “Heard you had a scare today?” he said as she came back into the lobby. “That’s my job to notice those small details.” “Well then, thank you for your concern,” she said as she plucked a couple of hairs off his uniform. “I’m alright, I will not be held prisoner by tragic events. You have a good night, Joel,” she finished and turned toward the door. “You too, Miss Ramberg,” he said, again tipping his hat to her. On her trip home, she couldn't seem to get his name out of her mind. She was getting another feeling again, but it was not a bad one...it was only a weird one. Pan Trinity…wow. I don’t even know you and I’m already interested. Jon was taken by you. He has a soft heart even though it has been stepped on a couple of times. I guess it's what makes him a great boss. She reached her apartment and, as always, it was quiet. The only sound was Jenna Kitty coming to see her with a purr in her throat. Davin picked her up and started to cuddle with her as she decided to go to bed. She slid in between the crisp sheet that smelled like lavender and reached above her to turn on the radio for a little back ground noise. One of her favorite songs came on right before drifted off to sleep. It was by Loreena McKennitt and the song was called “The Mummers’ Dance.” As the music played, she fell asleep with the name Pan Trinity echoing in the back of her mind. Her dreams started to pulse with the Celtic beat of the music. They moved into the state of bliss and, maybe…truth. Her dreams took the forms of white horses and a handsome young man with long straight chestnut brown hair. His eyes were a brilliant green and playful. Green was also the color of his clothes, all the shades you could think of. He turned to her and held out his hand. He addressed her with a charming smile and in a heavy Irish accent. “Come Davin…we bid you welcome back.” | |||
