One 28-year-old woman, Janet S., believed life wasn’t giving her what she deserved. One day she decided to do something dramatic to make people pay attention. On August 21, 1994, she stormed out of her apartment with a kitchen knife and her precious Siamese cat. She walked into a local grocery store in Gresham, Oregon, and set herself down on the floor in front of the manager’s office.
