Chapter Two

New Orleans use to be a glamorous and unspoiled city now all that dwell in it are bums and low lives. People who lost control of there life and then they finished up here. This metropolis had gone to desecrate in the hands of a great storm. Yet this city sparked the first Intergalactic war. Man verses the creatures from outer space. The first war that man joins forces with every single other country on the Earth and then they all fight for the survival of the species. Yet as I look down on the ruined city, I wonder why. Why did this city cause billions to die? Why would I have to struggle for this city? Why does most of my friends and the people I work with have to die? I want it all to be, how it use to be before the most destructive war that has ever happened and the conflict that meant the most, to every human alive. This one war, this one war that, even through everyone on the Earth has been through years of fighting, it hasn’t ended yet.

“What a waste of a city.”
“I know. I liked coming here.”
“Right, what planet are you on today Ian? This placed has been ruined for almost twenty years now. How do you even remember it? You must be a grandma.”
“I’m twenty-five and how old are you Dareous?”
“Right you lot need to zip it or we’ll never get this completed.” Pinkie said. I don’t know why we call her that. We just do. She had bright pink hair and looked good in a suit. She was about six foot tall and she told us what we needed to do.
“Year, listen to her or we might never see the tomorrow. Even though it had been years since anyone have died investigating an old satellite that crashed in the middle of the city” said Ian Vanity. The most hated on this team but still the finest of his specialty which is scoping, all he does is sit behind a large weapon and presses a trigger when he sees the enemies; I wish I had his job. He’s completely useless half of the time and he really doesn’t know when he needs to stop talking.
“Vanity you’re starting to annoy me. And a satellite has never hurt anyone? Right, let’s get on with this.” said Captain Dareous. The most intellectual on the team, he knew what to change when anything goes wrong and when to do it and how to do everything. He’s nicknamed Brain and then there is me. I'm the final soldier on this helicopter. My name’s Alexander Sedro. I for short and what am I good at you ask? Scouting! I’m a scout! I walk ahead of everyone else and see if the enemy’s there. The problem is, if they are you are the one who will normally gets spotted, killed, tortured or if you’re really lucky drugged but I’m very good at it. We’re the only team members on this helicopter however there are six more on three different copters.

“So here is what’s going happen.” said Pinkie for the second time, “an unidentified flying object hit New Orleans at 3:30 London time this morning…”
“So tell me again why we always use London time,” said Ian “why not American time?”
“Ian.” Brain mockingly said.
“Yes”
“Shut it. Okay let’s carry on.”
“Thank you. Like I was saying a UFO crashed into New Orleans at 3:30 this morning. What we need you to do is…”
“Investigate” I butted in “Clear the area of all enemy units then contact you to take the evidence away.”
“Yes. That is my job. Now you have your gadgets, Mp42 assault rifle. This is a brand new As142 scope. Now don’t destroy this one if you do your paying and an Lg55 handgun. Again even fracture it and you compensate for the loss. You have headlamps, smokes, grenades, climbing gear, DNA analyzer, and bullet proof armour. Now you know that will rarely help you if you need it to and then you have your communicational headset devises with satellite uplink, night vision and motion tracker. Have fun on your mission men and remember you need to pull to release the parachute. If not, well you know what will happen”

We jumped off. We're jumping into the city of New Orleans. Soaring, falling through the sky all nine of us. This felt absolutely amazing. The only thing stopping us from certain death is the fact that we have a parachute which when I pull it will release and slow me down. I looked down below into the city, Hundreds of destroyed buildings gazed up at me. I sighed and I pulled the chord. It released and tugged my entire body up about fifty yards and then slowed me down incredible quick. I looked for a clear landing site. I found one, a large roof in the centre of the New Orleans. It looked rather stable. I swooped down onto the building and got brought to a standstill. I looked around; everyone else was starting to land around me. I looked at the tracker and there was a red dot bleeping on and off, which was what I needed to get to. It was a few miles out. I jumped from building to building and began regrouping with the others.
“Okay we are about three miles out.” yelled Brain “Let’s get a move on!” We ran across the tops of the buildings. Ducking and diving the poles and objects coming out of the many destroyed buildings. I looked around, I couldn’t see a UFO anywhere but then it could just be the size of a tiny green pea. We kept going for a while and the dot didn’t seem to get any closer.
“Have we seen anything yet Captain?” said Sylvester our heavy weapons specialist. “These rockets aren’t getting any lighter.”
“Not yet.” replied Brains.
“Can we sit down yet? My back ache is like a flaccid haggis.” said David McDonarly in his normal Scottish accent.
“No we keep going. If we sit down, they might take off, get really annoyed and start destroying Tokyo. That’s if the ship’s not that damaged and if it’s a ship. Is that clear?”
“Yes sir. Won’t ask bout it again sir.”
“Let’s keep moving then!”

I ran for another half an hour before I actually saw it, a colossal black ship. It had what looked like scales over the entire thing. Maybe it helped to cloak it or make it indestructible; what ever it did it makes me feel minuscule and insignificant. It made me feel like I am not alive; trying to tell us we need to pass our life away.
“Okay let our scout go ahead first. Go out and look at the surroundings. Advice us on the best choice of action” What did I tell you? I needed to go ahead first and look around while they see what kills me and decide the best way to scamper away.
“I encircle the vessel. See what it’s like. Okay?” asked the captain. I had to agree to what he asked me so I did. I moved towards the UFO while they sat and watched me go towards what could easily be certain death. I got closer to it and my heart seemed to slow down to a halt, as I moved nearer I felt more and more stressed about everything. The ship seemed to completely dwarf me in size. I could barely see the end of it going up and across. You must have been able to fit a small city in it. I thought this was a bad idea but I decided to see what it felt like so I touched the side of the spaceship. It felt weird. It was all scaly, yet it felt like wrinkly old skin.

“What does it feel like?” yelled Simmons our stealth expert. “What does it feel like? That jet black and very big spaceship. The one you’re looking at!" What does it feel like?” he yelled at me again.
“It feels like flesh!” I yelled back. “It feels like human flesh!” Simmons went all quiet. I continue walking round the side of the ship until I couldn’t see anyone of the team anymore. Then I heard gunfire and screaming coming from where the squads were. Everything went quiet, I thought they must have killed what ever attacked them but I ran back to see what had happened, just in case. I looked where the groups had been. They seemed to of disappeared, I looked towards the spaceship hoping to see them but they weren’t near the spaceship. I looked back towards the last position they’re in and I saw a puddle of green slowly making its way down the slope. I followed it. It came to a mass of bodies. They were the bodies of fellow soldiers, who I worked with almost every day. Every single one of them was dead. They’re all dead. Blood gushed out of two large holes in them. A few had four or six but the holes an always seemed to be in twos.

I turned towards the ship again to see if anyone or anything was their. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! My heart beat got faster and faster. I was scared. A twig snapped underneath my foot. I fell to the floor and I heard my headset snap. I tried to yell out, but my voice just wouldn’t let me. I manage to whisper help. I knew no-one was around. Why would they be in this dead city? I got to my knees by the side of the lifeless Captain. Crying, I knelt by the side of my Captain and I was crying. I thought this was going to be it, the last day of my poor and miserable life but nothing happened. No-one came to kill me. They must have run into the city. If they ran into the city they could kill all the people who had become bums and they could keep moving. I used the rest of my energy to stand up. I gulped and started to walk around the bodies, scared and frightened. I saw all eight of them but among them I saw a ninth body. This body had incredible large claws, which should have been hands and a hunched back appearance. It was either a mutant or maybe it was an alien.

This body was also in a full suit of armour. It was blue, the armour and the creature inside. I kicked it until it turned so I could see through the helmet. I saw several bullet wounds in it. Could this be an alien? I needed to report back to base. I tried speaking into my Telecom but it didn’t seem to work. I must have broken it when I fell. So I went over to the Captain and took his, I halted when a small sheet fell out his pocket. I began to read the message inside of it, it read;

Dear Adam Dareous

We need to understand that this information is kept top secret and only read by you. If this falls into the wrong hands you will be a traitor to the Dark Weapon and you will be prosecuted by capital punishment. If any of the UFO’s you investigate contains any power source inside it at all. You must find a way to contact us. We shall not go into any further detail. If you find it, you will be rewarded. Remember that Dark Weapon is counting on you.

Yours Sincerely
Dark Weapon

I took his telecom and reported back. They came to take me and the all nine of the bodies away. I asked about Dark Weapon and gave them the paper but all they said is that it’s doesn’t matter now. The same question was now stuck in my head, who or what is Dark Weapon. I hope in later days, I will hopefully, find out what Dark Weapon is but for now I need to get ready for the calm before the storm and the armada of a Billion soldiers fighting for what is rightfully theirs. It was the planet Earth.
