Fact: 1964 - J5 (Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito) perform their first paying shows at Mr. Lucky's in Gary, Indiana.

1965 - They win a local talent contest at Roosevelt High School in Gary, performing "My Girl" and "Shake It Baby."

1967 - Win first prize in an amateur talent show at Gary's Memorial Auditorium

1968 - Win amateur night at Harlem's legendary Apollo Theatre.

1969 - An audition for Berry Gordy in Detroit, sign with Motown Records and the entire family moves to Los Angeles.

1970 - Four consecutive number one singles: "I Want You Back", "ABC," "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There"

1971 - The animated series Jackson 5 began on ABC

1974 - return to the Top 10 with "Dancing Machine" - the song also tops the R&B charts.

1975 - Jermaine leaves to pursue a solo career

1976 - The group signs with Epic Records and becomes The Jacksons. Brother Randy joins the group. The LP achieves gold status and the single, "Enjoy Yourself", sells over one million copies.
- The Jacksons with Rebbie, La Toya & Janet starts there own successful summer variety series on CBS-TV

1977 - returned to touring after 5 years

1978 - Destiny, written and produced by the brothers, becomes the most successtul LP in the Jacksons' catalog, achieving platinum status for sales well over one million albums.

1979 - The singles, "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)," written by Randy and Michael was certified platinum for sales of more than two million

1980 - The Jacksons release Triumph, another platinum success
- The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of The Jacksons' contributions to music, honors the group with its own star along Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

1981 - The Jacksons gross an estimated $5.5 million on a 36-city concerttour kicking off July 9. The Jacksons raise over $ 100,000 for the Atlanta Children's Foundation in a special benefit concert at the Omni in Atlanta.

1984 - The Victory album is the group's first double platinum achievement.
- The historic Jacksons' "Victory" tour begins on July 6, 1984 in Kansas City. It will run for five months, crisscrossing the U.S. and Canada with the most ambitious design and execution ever created for the concert stage. More than two million people came out to see the shows.

1989 - Released their seventh Epic album, 2300 Jackson Street

1995 - The Jacksons (without Michael) are working on an album called "Humanity"

1997 - The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

1998 - The Jacksons (including Michael and Jermaine) have agreed to go together again for a new LP, called "J5"
