I’m back for another week...I can’t believe another show has been and gone! I haven’t been quite as busy this week although it was one of my friends birthday this week – she’s finally made it to 18! HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY! (That’s compensation for forgetting her card…!)

On with the show…

Firetone performed a live set for us this week and they performed two songs ‘Gravity’ and ‘Angel Inside’. Firetone are from Milton Keynes, Bucks and have built up quite a large fan base around that area. They have just finished their first UK tour – they did around 1000 miles in 7 days – impressive! They are playing on the Introducing stage at the LiveZone event on 8th August. In August they have around 11 gigs – this band is seriously busy! They are playing at Soul Fest in Cumbria where The Charlatons are headlining! They are also playing at The Crawford Arms, The Horn, The Pitz, the list goes on! Find out more about Firetone and all of the gigs they have coming up at www.myspace.com/firetone!

Band on a bike continued this week with Jammers from Firetone competing in the crazy tricycle race!! He got a time of 19.7sec which put the band on 3rd place! What will happen next week?

The first guest in the studio was Saving Skylines! The band is based in Biggleswade, Beds. They are going in the studio to record some new material on the 10th and 11th of August. The band have also been gigging but have recently stopped because of their upcoming recording sessions but they promise they will have some gigs soon so make sure you check out the MySpace for all the upcoming dates. If you want to find out more, check out www.myspace.com/savingskylines

Daniela Bove spoke to Gareth about herself, her music and how to pronounce her surname! Daniela is from Milton Keynes, Bucks. She gigged around London for around 8 years and then came back to MK to test out the music scene in the Three Counties. She currently has her debut album available to buy which she recorded on her own. She then spent 2 years finding a band and has recently recorded a live 6 track EP. Gigs wise the band have just completed around 20 and have got Love In The Woods coming up which is in Devon. To find out more local gigs check out www.myspace.com/danielabove

Nia interviewed Kid Cosmic who used the uploader! They are based in St Albans and this is where they usually do their gigs! They are a pop-rock band and their influences include Greenday and Blink 182. Last year the band went on their first tour all over the UK and they did a mini tour in June. They recorded the album in 2007 which you can purchase now! On 20th August the band are playing at The Horn in St Albans. Find out more about Kid Cosmic at www.myspace.com/kidcosmic

The Fuse popped in for a chat. The band come from Hemel Hempstead, Herts and classify themselves as ‘Old Indie’. They normally gig in Hemel, Watford and St Albans. They are looking at going into the studio to record some more material in August. They are playing at the Introducing gig on Wednesday 8th August at The Horn in St Albans. All other gigs and new tracks are up on the MySpace. To find out more about the band check out www.myspace.com/thefusemusicuk

What are you doing on Wednesday 5th August? You’re coming down to The Horn in St Albans for the latest BBC Introducing…Beds Herts and Bucks gig and to celebrate Kelly’s birthday! The birthday girl herself found out all the gossip about her little birthday treat. Taking to the stage first are Black Circles followed by The Fuse, then The Raid and headlining are Rotating Leslie. To top off the evening we have DJ Juicebox Perdy! Doors open at 8pm, tickets are £5 on the door or £4 in advance and you have to be 18 or over. See you there!!

This week Kel took to the roads of Milton Keynes to the Sno! Bar for a battle of the bands competition which he was judging with Gareth and Kelly. The winner of the evening won the final slot at the upcoming BBC Introducing…Beds Herts and Bucks gig which is taking place at the Sno! Bar on August 8th! In the Red Corner was Blue Foot who have been together for about 3 years. They don’t really have a genre, mixing heavy rock with some melodic tracks. In the Blue Corner was Dry Til Friday. They are a heavy rock band but without the screaming! Friday 24th July 2009
So its been a while since I’ve done one of these…what can I say, I’m a busy girl! Rhythms Of The World was AMAZING! Make sure you check out all the galleries and reviews from the weekend on the website, they’re well worth a look! Last week, admittedly, I forgot to write my little memoirs of the show. What I can tell you is Kelly hosted the show and did a fantastic job! And may I say the person who commentated band on a bike was quite good to! (It was me by the way, in case you were wondering!).

Back to this week and we brought you yet another fun-filled, jam-packed and very entertaining show full of brilliant unsigned talent from the three counties! Who did a live session? Who came into the studio? What was the time on band on a bike? Who was the band baton passed onto? And what colour shirt did Gareth wear? Well I can answer all of the questions, and more, below! By the way, I don’t actually remember what colour Gareth’s shirt was…so shall we just say it was black??

On with the show…

Alex Holmes performed a set for us this week and they performed two songs ‘Won’t Spoil This Babe’ and ‘Dreams’. Alex is from Ashwell in Hertfordshire. She has been performing since she was 11 but wrote her first song on piano with vocals when she was 9! At the moment she is writing…all the time! She takes inspiration from things on the news, personal experience and even the weather I’m guessing! Gigs wise she is playing at The Windmill in Hitchin on 2nd August. After that she is playing on 3rd August at The Radcliffe Arms also in Hitchin. On the 28th August she is playing at the Dunstable Downs gig as well! Find out more about Alex Holmes at www.myspace.com/al3xholmes!

Band on a bike continued this week with Alex Holmes competing in the crazy tricycle race!! They got a time of 31.41sec! What will happen next week?

The first guest in the studio was Palahniuk! They are from Aylesbury, Bucks. Their track, ‘This Town’ was the first track we played on the show and after much deliberation, Gareth discovered that the track was about Aylesbury. The guys bought in a sample of their music for Gareth and Kelly and then we found out that they give them out FREE at their gigs. Yes that’s right, FREE! So where are they gigging? Next Friday (31st) they are playing in Oxford. After that they are playing at The Limelight Theatre in Aylesbury on the 6th November. If you want to find out more, check out www.myspace.com/palahniukmusic

Van Cleef spoke to Gareth about themselves, their music and motoring accidents! They have just finished recording a new single called ‘Welcome to Tomland’ which I’m sure we will be able to have a copy of soon. The EP should be available soon as well so make sure you keep an eye out for that. At the moment they aren’t playing any gigs within Beds, Herts and Bucks but they are gigging in and around London have a trip down to ol’ London town to hear the band play live! To find out more about Van Cleef check out www.myspace.com/vancleeffour

Nia interviewed Blue Root Zoots who used the uploader! They met at school and decided to create the sound that is Blue Root Zoots. They have recorded an EP which is being released soon which you will be able to purchase from them at gigs.

Twisted Trees popped in to talk about their music. The track we played, ‘Sanctuary’, was produced by Ian Grimble who produced Paul McCartney, Texas and Manic Street Preachers to name a few. There may be an EP in the future so look out for that. They are gigging in London on 29th July at Embassy. To find out more about the band check out www.myspace.com/twistedtreesband

Kelly spoke to Danny Quinn who is the arts and culture manager for Make A Difference and he helps to put on Music For You which is a free music festival for the whole community. This year the festival is going to be beach themed so make sure you wear your beach gear! On the Friday night they have an exclusive screening of a film called ‘State Of Mind’ in the international film tent. The bands start on the Saturday at 12 o’clock and the headliners of the Saturday night are the awesome Firetone! On the Sunday, Bedford based band Kilto Take are the headliners. Another awesome band who everyone at BBC Introducing…Beds, Herts and Bucks adore! Also playing are Le Carla, Thomas Said, Buik McKane, and Little Villeins. Sounds great!

Kel wasn’t in the studio this week so instead Nia took to the roads of Beds, Herts and Bucks! She was down at Luton Aid which is Luton’s biggest annual festival which raises money for the Pasque charity. Htier main aim was to raise as much money for the charity as possible. It started at 7.30pm on Friday night and then started again at 1.30pm on the Saturday afternoon through to midnight. In total there were 28 bands playing at Luton Aid. Swank, Sterile Profit, Imicus and Third Law were all headlining over the weekend. To find out more about Luton Aid check out www.audiostadium.com.
