	Being in a relationship is about more than just sacrificing time and money... it is about sacrificing other people. Not only do you lose time with your friends and family, but you lose your chance to be in a relationship with someone else. The opportunity cost of a relationship is huge. Those couple of years that you're with someone means that your missing out on others. The cute girl at the bookstore, the co-worker who you eat lunch with everyday, the girl who kept eye fucking you at the party/club, all of these people become missed connections when you're in an established relationship. Pick wisely who you decide to settle down with. The person who becomes your significant other shouldn't be your best investment at the moment, he/she should be your best investment for the coming years as well. They should grow with you, mature with you, and offer a return that no one else can possibly compete with. And if you find yourself holding on to toxic assets, perhaps it's best to cut your losses early and avoid complete disaster in the future.
