What subjects did you study at school?10 GCSE’s including Maths and Double science. A levels: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry What qualifications do you need for your job? An Engineering Degree and of course maths and science GCSEs and A Levels are essential! How much can I earn? Depends how hard you work! My pay increased by over 50% in the first 4 years of work. What other careers can science and maths lead to? Maths is vital for all types of engineering, so you can end up designing anything from aircraft engines to computer chips. What advice can you give to someone who wants to do your job? Structural engineers often get muddled with architects, but it’s quite a different profession. Working with architects is inspiring, but they need the specific skills of engineers to get their buildings to work, and it’s very rewarding to rise to their challenges.
